Hale Nene Poipu is an elegant plantation-style house with a private private pool/spa and over 3,000 sq ft and stunning golf, lake, sunset and ocean views. A glass entryway leads to an upper-story great room with vaulted, wood-inlaid ceilings and stone floors throughout the dining, kitchen, and living areas. Glass doors recess completely into the walls to reveal a covered lanai from which you can hear the ocean and enjoy the built-in BBQ, tradewinds and 270-degree view. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a Wolf gas range and mountain views. The upper floor includes a private master King suite with vaulted, wood-inlaid ceilings and golf, sunset and ocean views. The spacious master bath includes a soaking tub, a stone-lined walk-in shower and walk-in closet. The two-story floor plan allows families and guests their own separate quarters, also with ocean view, in a second complete master suite and bath, a downstairs media area and a third bedroom with two twins and a third full bath.
Hale Nene Poipu is named for the wild, Hawaiian geese that gather near the lake. The house is particularly airy and light and sits on the gentle greens of the Kiahuna golf course. The house faces South-West toward the ocean and sunsets so the evening light can extend into the living area. The upper-story living space with retractable glass doors which open up to the covered lanai also allow for the gentle tradewinds to breeze through the stone-floored living areas, lined with windows. The in-laid wood, vaulted ceilings reflect a Hawaiian home aesthetic and also provide a glow of soffit lighting in the evening hours. The home is on the Kiahuna golf course, designed Robert Trent Jones Jr. and one of eight world-class courses on Kauai which have views of the open sea and lush greenery that defines Kauai. Hale Nene Poipu is a quiet refuge surrounded by the course, but it is also in the heart of the Poipu, with its pretty beaches, restaurants, boutiques, spas & golf.
Amenities within walking distance : A mile from the house is the Poipu Shopping Village, which has island-theme boutiques and galleries, as well as a Starbuck's Coffee; a Roy's Restaurant with a bar looking out over the courtyard and fusion Hawaiian cuisine; Keoki's Paradise, a fun island/tiki torch garden restaurant; art galleries; a general store with many basic groceries and island items such as grass mats and Kona coffee, the addictive Puka Dog stand with its fresh lemonade; Kauai-made gelato shop; surfing clothing stores and free Hula shows on a shaded, outdoor stage put on by the local hula school.

We are working professionals who live in Anchorage, Alaska. After 20 years of camping and squeezing into a condo on Kauai, we bought Hale Nene Poipu as our vacation home to escape the cold Alaska winter and to enjoy Kauai in a more spacious, private and luxurious setting. We have two boys who spend hours in the pool and continue their beginning boogie boarding and snorkeling adventures around the Poipu area. We like to be busy, but also appreciate privacy and the an expansive, peaceful view, so this property really appealed to us. On-island, we are fortunate to work with a tight-knit group of trusted tradespeople who take excellent care of our home and our guests. Aloha!
Kauai is well-known for it's tropical beauty; one friend noted it was like a theme park - with fragrant flowers in the breeze, rainbows, and white sand beaches. It is also a mellow island with a distinct tropical feel, but with plenty of restaurants, shopping, snorkeling, hiking and biking to keep us busy. Hale Nene Poipu appealed to us because we like to be very active and all our favorite beaches, walking and biking are right out our door. However, we also like to have a peaceful refuge and the house, with its huge views and outdoor/indoor living areas, is quiet and feels secluded and private.
As this is our private vacation home, we take care to keep it in the best condition. We also have a personal interest in our guests enjoying their holiday and we welcome them to enjoy Hale Nene as their own private luxury vacation home.
