Bad! Don t rent this house
We spent weekend there in Dec.
First, the house did not provide enough hot water to us.
After only two persons took shower, the water turned cold and we needed to wait for hours to get water heated up again.
Second, we found an used diaper under our bed and you could smell it even though after we threw it away.
Two weeks later, after we left the house, the owners called us that we made all the bed blankets dirty and refused to return our deposit but we only used sleeping bags during our stay.
Owner's Response: As always, we welcome all comments concerning our home. The comments always help us to improve our home for others to enjoy. We have taken steps and recommend to our vacationers, at least three times before their vacation period, to report to us any issues they may find when they arrive at the house or during their stay. If we know of any concerns or issues when the vacationers first arrive, we can usually supply a remedy. It is hard to satisfy our vacationers if we are presented with allegations weeks after their stay without any verification possible. We have a cleaning service available to support any cleaning issues in the house at notification. We also have contracted various services such as HVAC and Plumbing Professionals that have responded to call for us within two to three hours for emergencies.
After hearing of these issues, we took immediate steps to correct these issues as follows:
1. The cleaning services, which we have used since the beginning, has provided excellent services as evident with some of our reviews and comments from families using the property. After the review of the allegations with the cleaning service, we have put additional items on the cleaning checklist to help avoid situations similar to this moving forward. Our current cleaning services offers much more to us and have done a great job for our vacationers. They provide a written report, with picture, to us to help resolve any unusual conditions.
2. The plumbing service was contacted to determine the poor hot water recovery period. Our hot water tank is in our crawlspace basement. They discovered the unit had one element burnt out. The hot water tank was replaced with a new hot water heater on January 6th, 2013.
Our policy for retaining any of the security deposit is to retain the portion needed to correct unusual damages, above normal wear and tear. For YTD 2012, we only retained this one deposit and did return over 62% of the deposit after notifying the vacationer for the reason.
During the past year, as posted on some of the reviews, if a problem surfaced during the vacation period, we took all steps necessary to remedy as soon as possible during the vacation period. Future vacationers can feel confident that as a result of our first less than positive review, we have taken positive steps to improve our home and vacation offering to future guest.
