Ruby Montana migrated to Palm Springs, Ca. in 2000 after purchasing a small boutique hotel called Ruby Montana's Coral Sands Inn. Prior to living in Palm Springs, Ruby was a resident of the wonderful Seattle, Washington, and had a store there for some twenty years. Ruby Montana's Pinto Pony in Pioneer Square was a kitsch Emporium that held everything from a Corbusier sofa to an invisible dog leash. Whack and wonderful. Ruby sponsered the National Spam Contest in Seattle for 10 years and was featured in People Magazine and on Jay Leno with regard to it...interviewed every February by 100s of radio stations internationally about the whacky contest. Ruby went to The University of Michigan and received a degree in Music. She majored in the French Horn and it managed to pay her way through college. Ruby was born in El Reno, Oklahoma, and is a pie baker. Ruby has a deep regard for animals and a passion for rescuing small dogs. In April 2013 Ruby formed a 501(c)3 called Ruby Montana's Pie in the Sky Animal Rescue. She saves 100s of dogs a year from certain death by fostering them and then placing them in homes. Ruby began baking pies for Trio Restaurant in order to meet the costs of rescuing a dog from a shelter. Each dog costs in the neighborhood of $200 to rescue. Her pies were always in such demand at Trio that she started Ruby Montana's Pie in the Sky Pie of the Month Club. Ruby had 50 members at last count. Her Let the Sunshine Lemon Meringue Pie is so popular at Trio Restaurant that it is generally sold out before 7 p.m. Ruby Montana's Coral Sands Inn sits contiguous to Casa Redonda and they work beautifully for hosting larger groups of people...reunions, weddings, retreats, golf getaways...you name it. Ruby loves the Old Las Palmas neighborhood that both the Casa Redonda and The Coral Sands are located in. They are situated just around the corner from Liberace's first home where one can still find the original grand piano mail box. Incredible.
