Walk the Pemaquid Loop Road , make a stop at the lighthouse o(or for the day)(climb to the top of the tower) or pack your bag and head to nearby Pemaquid Beach, named one of Maine's top ten beaches by Downeast Magazine. Artist lover delight, bring your camera, sketch pad or paint. Lots to do and see or just relax and get cozy by the fire on a cool evening or cook up somores. Pemaquid Beach: Fabulous take if you love the beach....One of Maine's Ten Best Beaches in Maine according to Downeast Magazine, Pemaquid Beach is one of the finest beaches you will ever see. Fine white sand perfect for building sandcastles or just squishing through your toes, Chairs, umbrellas and toys are available for rent at the beach house. New renovated bathing facilities with changing stalls and HOT water. The consession stand has a wide variety of snacks and hot and cold sandwichs. Kids love the Nature Center with is touch tank. Activities throughout the summer include, Yoga on the Beach, Sand Sculpture Contests and Fireworks during Olde Bristol Days Celebrations. Relax with a book, toss the frisbie around or fly a kite. There is something at the beach for everyone!
Get on the Water: Hardy Boat excusions leave from Shaw's Wharf in New Harbor several times a day. Take the ferry to Monehegan Island for the day or just go out for a few hours on the Puffin or Seal Watching Cruise. The perfect way to end the day is a Sunset Cruise on the Hardy Boat, followed up by a Lobster Dinner at Shaw's Wharf Restaurant. Sea Kayaks are available for rent locally. A great way to get up close to nature! Float lazily on the Pemaquid River or bring your pole and do a little fishin'. Make sure to bring your binoculars for spectacular bird watching. Great Blue Heron, Red Winged Black Birds, Osprey and Bald Eagles abound!
