Since I was a freshman in college I have been traveling to this location. I came to Maine to visit a friend I grew up with and never wanted to leave. Now I get to come here as often as I wish.

Paradise In Maine

Maine is a back to nature experience...brings you close to god. Everything I needed was in that cottage. It was very comfortable, beds were excellent, hot showers. Landlord was very accomodating and friendly. I am from Alabama and loved the Maine coast. Enjoyed taking walks around the loop road and sitting on the various benches and looking at the ocean. Had a real New England Dinner of Baked Beans and Hot Dogs. The sunsets were just gorgous. Saw the monarch butterflies during the day and the stars were so bright at night. I will be back next summer.

August in Maine

5 of 5
Submitted: August 10, 2011 Stayed: August 2011
This is a very tiny, but adorable cottage. Most of the bugs are gone in August and the nights were in the high 50's and 60's-a welcomed change! It's about .5 mile walk to the lighthouse, and the dirt road beside the cottage leads to an inlet with beautiful sunsets and a park bench was provided to help enjoy the view. I set up the table and chairs as an art studio for the week and used this place as a retreat. It was relaxing to be away from the internet! Leave you laptop at home!
The downside was the shower pressure wasn't strong, there was a musty smell under the kitchen sink, and the drinking water wasn't great. I purchased a big jug of water at the market right down the road and used that.
Upside: Janet's cupboards were stocked with spices, olive oil, can opener, corkscrew, silverware, dishes, pots and pans, casserole dish, dish clothes, paper towels, TP, and she even had wine chilled for me upon arrival! Bring your old cassette tapes, and step back in time. The ferry to Monhegan island is just a few miles down the road...it was a wonderful trip and hiked the trails there for hours! Fish and chips to die for with garlic vinegar! Lobster in the harbor near the Pemiquid Beach area was 5.99 lb. all steamed!
