A perfectly designed Paris Pad
We just returned from four days in this fantastic apartment. We wish it could have been a month. The property is located right across the street from the Seine, and although the street is busy and noisy, the apartment's windows eliminate 90+ percent of the noise. What you're left with is a gorgeous view and incredible light - two things that are rare in Paris. In my opinion, the location simply cannot be beat. Everything is within walking distance of the apartment. This is the most central location in Paris. You are footsteps from Pont Neuf bridge, which takes you right across to St.Germain. You're also footsteps from the Louvre and the Museum of Decorative Arts. I mention the latter museum because it is a must-see, in my opinion. And while you're there, don't be surprised to see a number of the furniture pieces from the apartment in the museum as well. This apartment is not furnished as a rental. It has been furnished with a collector's discerning eye (and wallet). Truly, no expense was spared in designing and decorating the space. Every aspect of the design of this apartment has been thought out, all the way down to the artful radiator that doubles as sculpture. Don't be put off by the unassuming door to the building or the very vintage staircase that leads to the landing of the apartment. Once you step inside the apartment you'll be bowled over by its beauty. And the extra measures of hospitality that the owner has taken add even more to the experience (champagne, cookies, etc..). The bedroom is (once again) efficient and perfectly designed. The round bed was extremely comfortable (and fun). The shower is actually normal-sized (again, a rarity in Paris). And there is a beautiful tub in the bedroom for soaking in after long walks in the city. The toilet is located down a hall and up some stairs. It is quite glam! If you're extra tall, you may have to duck a little in this room. At 5'8", it wasn't an issue for me/us. The english-fluent housekeeper met us at the property and gave us a complete tour of the space. And the owner has put together a great book that not only explains how to use all of the appliances, TV, telephone, etc., but also has suggestions for good restaurants and shopping in the area. You'll have to walk a few blocks to get to a good bakery, but that is a small price to pay. This place is a FIND! Treat yourself and enjoy the best of locations and the absolute best of design and amenities. Like us, you won't want to leave!
