Blue Heron Point is located over an acre on Rock Hole Creek with expansive water views and located five minutes from the Little Wicomico River and the Chesapeake Bay. Amenities include a swimming salt water pool overlooking the large rolling hill yard and over 700 feet of waterfront. Wake up to sun rises over the water, catch crabs from the dock, kayak and bird watch along the creek and river shorelines, and take long walks or bike rides on the serene back roads of the Northern Neck.
Curl up in the warm sun room to read a book, watch a large screen television with Direct, and cook in a newly remodeled kitchen or use the outdoor grill. Enjoy the comforts of home such as your own washer and dryer, coffee maker, and full service kitchen, dining room seating for up to eight, comfortable living room, and plenty of porch and patio sitting areas.
Our home is located 90 minutes away from Richmond, VA and just 2.5 hours from either Washington DC or Norfolk VA and 35 minutes from Fredericksburg, enjoy historical sites along the way, tour the country site bicycling, take a winetasting tour of the Northern Neck vineyards or spend all your time fishing in the river jetty or on the bay. Bring your own fishing boat or book a charter fishing trip ahead of your visit. Visit the birthplace plantations of President George Washington and General Robert E. Lee, historic towns of Reedville, Kilmarnock, Christ Church and others. Four relatively easy bicycle trails are available to tour which represent the essence of the Northern Neck. Tie your shallow draw fishing boat at the end of the dock, or charter fishing trips which are available at several marinas nearby. You can also book day trips to either Smith Island or Tangier Island on the local ferries to explore bay island culture.
We purchased our house with the potential for remodeling or tearing it down. For ten years, we spent countless hours dreaming about an extreme home makeover. In 2012, our old rustic cottage transformed into new and larger bay house with brand new appliances, a working wood stove, and plenty of living space.
We chose to buy our home in this area because the community is filled with country charm. We get the comforts of living just minutes from the Chesapeake Bay, gardening from the spring to the fall; catching crabs and pulling fresh oysters from the shore; grilling by the pool in the summer, watching blue herons, osprey, eagles, seagulls, and pelicans fly by; catching fleeting glimpses of hummingbirds; and enjoying hot cocoa sitting by the wood burning stove on cool evenings.
We fell in love with Blue Heron Point because it is on a waterfront point on the creek facing east. We watch the most beautiful sunrises, take evening boat rides to watch the sunset, and fish for stripped bass, flounder, red drum and blue fish all summer long. The house has an open concept living space and it is perfect for family vacations, reunions and weekend getaways.
