Cottage was extremely clean and excellent repair. Carmen was a wonderful hostess and the property was exactly as it was represented on line. Highly recommend it for those looking for privacy, away from tourist, and in a local Hawaiian neighborhood. Access to the beach is easy and no crowds! The beach with the view of Honolulu and Waikiki beach/Diamond Head is the best! Plus this side of the island you get more sun less showers. Enjoyed our stay with 4 in our group with two college age kids!. Provided an excellent base for seeing all the sights but you need a rental car.

This Eva Beach house was everything we were hoping for and very clean, practically had our own beach the entire week, Carmen and Jan are wonderful friendly people. The property is in a good central location on the island that affords easy 1/2 day or day trips to other parts of the island without having to stay in dowtown Honolulu. The surf was great for the kids and sea kayaking, we even played along side a large sea turtle. We would definately consider staying in this home again.

A wonderful home base!

I stayed here with my extended family, ages 2-71. We enjoyed having a non-touristy home base as we explored the island.
We all enjoyed the quiet beach, especially after seeing the hoards at Waikiki.
Carmen and Jan were warm and welcoming. Carmen was even able to provide a stroller, portable crib and a booster seat (really a car seat, but it worked well).
The house was exactly as advertised and was a great fit for a group that wanted to enjoy being together and didn't want to be in the thick of spring-break craziness. It was incredibly clean and well equipped with everything we needed.

We just spent a week here (February 2-February 9, 2013). The house was super clean, had everything we needed, and the beach is awesome!! Carmen was a great hostess - very friendly and always available when we needed her! We've used VRBO for several vacations and Carmen is by far one of the easiest owners we've worked with. I highly recommend this property.

This rental property was exactly what we were looking for, and it exceeded our expectations. Set in a residential neighborhood, you have access to a beautiful, sandy, uncrowded beach just steps from your back door, with views of the sunrise, sunset, and Diamond Head in the distance. Great for long walks. There was coral in the water in some spots, so beach shoes might be helpful when swimming.The house was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed: Internet access, clothes washer and dry, dishwasher, microwave, and even beach equipment and beach towels. The owners were always available if we needed help with anything, and very friendly and helpful with recommendations for our island adventure. The location was perfect for taking off in any direction to see the sights of Oahu. If you are looking to stay somewhere outside of the city, and avoid the luxury resort atmosphere, somewhere you can feel like a local Hawaiian for a few days, this is the place for you!

Home Sweet Home in Hawaii

We loved our stay at this rental house in Ewa Beach. It was in a very convenient, central location to many of the activities around the island. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The owners were super friendly and helpful, eager to please. We had easy access to the beach and all available beach equipment, including beach towels. You might need beach shoes when swimming, because of some coral in the water. All the conveniences of home, including internet, washer and dryer, dishwasher. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, long walks on the beach, cooking our own meals....We wanted to stay outside of the busy city/resort environment and this residential neighborhood was the perfect option. It was like living in Hawaii, not just visiting. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We wanted to go visit our son and his family who were just stationed at Hickam AFB. After looking at several options and comparing reviews we felt that this rental stood out for the five of us. We really felt welcomed when we where greeted with a tray of snacks and a fresh cut pineapple in the fridge. The first day our sons spent 12 hours on what seemed like our own private beach enjoying the 3 person kayak, boogie and surf boards and snorkle equipment. All of those are yours to use. It also came with a high chair that made dinner with our grand daughter a breeze. Jan and Carmen where greet hosts. They gave us the local aspect of the does and don'ts when it came to tourist attractions which was very helpful. This place was more than we anticipated and would recommend it to anyone. And by the way, you won't believe the beautiful sunrises you will see from the beach.

Jan and Carmen were the best people to work with. This was hands down the easiest and least stressful way to vacation. The place is located in a great spot that is easy to get around and see the sites. The house is a great size for the 7 of us that stayed there. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cookware. The beds are comfortable, the living room has wonderful furniture and the house is spotless. The beach is BEAUTIFUL! If you get up early you can watch the most amazing sun rise over Diamond Head. Jan and Carmen as wonderful people. We'd go back to Hawaii just to see them! They treated us far better than any hotel staff ever would. Truly amazing people.

Lovely, nicely appointed home

This home is just as advertised. It is well equipped for families with small children as well as adults. I was vacationing with my daughter, her husband and two very small grandchildren. The house is just a few steps to the beach which was nearly deserted all the time. We felt like it was our private beach. We were there in mid-Oct and the water was clear and the waves were not too big for my 3 (almost 4) year old grandson to play in the water. You do need water shoes to go into the water a few feet from the shore because of the rocks. We drove to all the touristy sights as we were first-time visitors to Hawaii and ran into a LOT of traffic. Be sure to check your i-pad for traffic patterns to avoid the heavy traffic when heading into Honolulu. Carmen was a delight. So friendly and helpful but never intrusive. The only problem we encountered was all day (all week) construction on the house next door which was noisy and we couldn't close up the house as there was no air conditioning. All in all, we had a great vacation in Ewa Beach.

Steps from the Beach

We had a lovely stay at the rental property. The property is steps from the beach and you have the beach to yourself on the weekdays. Great time just relaxing on the beach. The Shagam's provide everything you need from linens to beach towels and a wide assortment of water equipment and sand toys for the kids. The house is very clean and lots of movies to keep the kids entertained at night. The waves at Ewa Beach are small in the morning and more moderate in the afternoon so its great if you want to try out boogie boarding, surfing, or sea kayaking. Just remember to wear the reef shoes as there are rocks close to the shore. The rental property is also gated which adds a nice touch. Carmen is a wealth of information and so friendly and responsive. You'll need a rental car, but everything is within a 45 min drive. When we arrived we were lucky enough to see a monk seal sun bathing on the sand. Definitely recommend this property.
