Photos and Description of the San Francisco vacation apartment rental
2 bedroom sleeps 4 maximum plus baby

We are nestled on Lombard Street where Russian Hill becomes North Beach, just down from the famous zig-zag and a block to the cafes, restaurants and cable-car. This flat is on the second floor of a 'back' building, set back from the street and accessed from a charming garden courtyard. It's quiet, light and newly renovated.

Perfect for a couple, friends or a family, the flat has 2 bedrooms (one queen and one full bed), an eat-in kitchen and a comfortable living room. The bathroom is split: a WC with a toilet, and separate room for shower, tub and sink. The laundry room provides you with a new washer/dryer, a place to store your luggage, and a desk to do that homework.

The apartment was recently renovated. It has wooden floors and original detailing. You will find the apartment tastefully decorated complete with linens, towels and kitchen supplies for cooking. There is soap, shampoo and toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent and garbage bags. The apartment is professionally cleaned after every guest. The mattresses are new and high-end. There's a high-definition Samsung TV with Direct TV in the living room. There is reliable, password protected, high-speed wireless internet in every room as well as a hard-wired connection in the master bedroom.

Built in 1913, the building retains its old-world historic charm. It is situated in a fabulous neighborhood -- on Lombard Street on Russian Hill, blocks from North Beach. Known for its scenic views, zig-zag streets and pocket parks, Russian Hill is also home to extraordinary restaurants, night-clubs and cafes.

Enjoy your visit by being footsteps away from the Coit Tower, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and North Beach. Stay right on the most iconic street in San Francisco: Lombard Street in your own 2-bedroom apartment.

Prepayment and a security deposit of $250 is required from all guests. A cleaning fee of $100 is added to your bill. Our usual nightly rate is $200.

Please feel free to contact me to answer any questions and arrange your stay in San Francisco.

Thank you, Bethany

Fabulous location and friendly, helpful owners! Russian Hill, Telegraph Hill, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, cable cars all within a short walk. We loved walking to the cafes in North Beach for dinner each evening and being able to catch a cable car just 2 blocks away! Hope to return one day, and would definitely recommend to friends!

Perfect Location on Lombard Street

My daughter and I spent a week at this lovely, newly renovated apartment in North Beach. The apartment offered all of the conveniences that we needed. It was extremely quiet and made us feel "at home" in the City. This was especially nice since my daughter was in the process of relocating to San Francisco and we were there apartment hunting. The kitchen was fabulous...newly renovated, fully equipped, spacious and clean. The location was great as we were near a Trader Joe's and numerous restaurants including a cafe on the street corner. Although we were on the famous Lombard St. I never felt that we were inundated with tourists.
Bethany and Ben, the owners, were extremely helpful and made us feel right at home. The only suggestion that I would make is perhaps putting a TV in the Master Bedroom and improving the lighting in the living room and bedrooms by adding lamps. The building is old so the HVAC is a little quirky but once we figured it out, we were quite comfortable. The views of the other apartment builidings and interior gardens were just picturesque. Charming apartment!! Would highly recommend a stay here and hope to go back some day.

My two highschool children and I stayed here during a six-night visit to SF. Location is fantastic, even better than I had hoped. Owners live next door and are very friendly, obliging and helpful but non-intrusive. The neighborhood is delightful; fun to explore day or night; wonderful corner shops and cafes; loved Trader Joe's grocery store, Columbus St Speak Easy, Cafe Sopora, and Bike N Roll. We walked, biked, and took public transport everywhere we went in the city. The central location of the apartment made getting around very easy. Lots of days we could walk "home" for lunch and back for more sight-seeing in the afternoon/evening. The apartment is very clean, amenities are simple but very nice, beds are super-comfortable, lighting is good, kitchen is well-supplied with all the basics, internet connection is very good. Couldn't have enjoyed our stay more, will definitely recommend to family and friends, can't wait to return!

We had a three night at this very pleasant apartment in the city. The place was clean and nicely decorated. My wife and I immediately felt at home. Greeted by Bethany, she took the time to give us a thorough overview of the area and the amenities of the apartment.
Close to the cable car stop, Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach, the location is perfect for getting out in the city but then being able to come back to a nice, quiet retreat in the evening was a positive.
I only wish we had more time to explore the restaurants and cafes of North Beach. We spent a lot of time out and about and only on our last night found what the neighborhood had to offer. We had a great dinner at Pantarei and met some great people at Original Joes.
It would be difficult not to return here on our next trip to San Francisco.

Reviewer Chris from the U.K. said it well - we stayed here the following week and found the apartment to be clean, quiet, and perfectly located (great view of Coit Tower, and just two blocks from the "crooked" section of Lombard Street). Caffe Sapore is just a block away, and became our "go to" place for breakfast before heading out for the day. Public transportation is convenient and easy to use, but it is also an easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf or the many restaurants on Columbus Avenue. Our hosts Ben and Bethany were a joy to deal with before, during, and after our stay. Ben met us in front of the apartment upon arrival, got us situated, and provided great information about San Francisco. Staying here for 4 nights was much better than a hotel (unless you can afford a 1000 square foot hotel room), and I have no hesitation recommending this apartment for your next visit to San Francisco.

Fantastic apartment set on Lombard Street

My father and myself visited this apartment in September 2012. Early on we discounted the idea of a typical hotel in Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square and instead opted for VRBO in a hope of experiencing a more genuine SF. What we ultimately found was a true home from home and one that I would have no hesitation in recommending to any visitor.

Key points that I feel set this apartment apart from the rest are:

Location. Although about 200 metres up from the junction of Lombard and Columbus, the apartment is very accessible to all the sights of SF. It is around 5-10 minutes walk to the edge of Fisherman's Wharf while for downtown you have the option of a bus (no. 30) or the cable car that runs up Columbus. We didn't have a car as coming from the UK and from what I gather parking is uber expensive so if you want parking, and cannot get a resident's pass, this may not be the location for you.

Facilities. The apartment has two good double bedrooms, a living room with large TV sporting cable access, a fully functioning kitchen/diner that is stocked with loads of condiments as well as bathroom and separate toilet. It is well presented with new carpet recently laid in most rooms. Everything was spotless when we picked up the keys which is a great feel.

Landlord. Very helpful prior to and during visit. Any questions asked were answered promptly. During our stay they were unobtrusive but around should we have had any questions.

Cost. Nothing in SF is cheap and thus it is nice to find an apartment that is good value.

Other helpful points. While we only cooked the one night, using the apartment's microwave for pizza, its location next to cafe's and restaurants is a real boom. There are two at the bottom of Lombard Street and numerous others up and down Columbus. If you want to go further afield there are a variety of other choices going down to Fisherman's Wharf or up towards China Town. All budgets are catered for.

Conclusion. All in all this great apartment in a great location.

Can you give something 6 stars?

It was a great place to stay the week with our 16 month old. There are open stairs and low cupboards but as long as you are willing to monitor your children you should be fine.

Why we liked the apartment:
**It has an incredible amount of natural light and windows. Comfortable and clean.
**The neighborhood was surprisingly quiet. Being so centrally located I expected a lot more noise. The set-up of the apartment itself is also conducive for a sleeping baby/toddler (the bedrooms are away from the kitchen/living/laundry room.
**Near lots of public transit. We did not use a car and would highly recommend it to others. Citypass books make all trolley or muni bus trips free.
**Near attractions (again made use of a citypass book). The apartment is close enough to get back for our son’s afternoon nap and then be out again for another activity in the afternoon.
**Owners provided a pack and play and offered a stroller.
**Owners restaurant recommendations: excellent advice, we did not try every place on the list but we were pleased with what we did try. Owners also pointed out local playgrounds which we frequented. Excellent customer service.

Great Stay on Lombard Street!

If you're looking for a great place to stay while visiting San Francisco, this is the place. Why pay more for a Fisherman's Wharf hotel that is just a couple blocks down the street that is less than half the size? This was the perfect place for our family of 4 - two adults and two teenagers. We had one of the bedrooms and the kids had the other. There was plenty of space to spread out. The place was very clean and well furnished. While there is a full kitchen in the place, we mostly just used it for breakfast as there are plenty of great restaurants around - two we enjoyed were Mario's Bohemian Cigar store (no actual cigars - just great Pininnis) and Piazza Pellegrini (try the Gnocchi - they are like little clouds). It is an easy walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz tour and Pier 39. There is also a small market one block away for the quick pickups and a Safeway and Trader Jacks a few more blocks away for more groceries.
We had a car for the week we were there. Parking directly around the place was fairly easy to find, except you have to move it every two hours during the day (it doesn't have to move overnight). For days that we knew we would be gone most of the day, there is a 12 hour for $10 lot just one block away. Still this is a whole lot cheaper than parking costs as the nearby hotels ($30+).
Things we walked to were Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Maritime Park, Alcatraz tours, Girardelli Square, cable car rides, and Chinatown. The sea lions at Pier 39 are a must see, I think we went to watch them sunning themselves almost every day.
Things we drove to were Santa Cruz, Pacifica beaches (to see the surfers) Mystery Spot, Lands End hike, Twin Peaks (great view of the city) and Muir Woods.
This would not be the place to stay at if you are planning on making a lot of noise. It is the second floor apartment with people both above and below you. The place and the street are quiet in the evening.
Overall the place was great and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great "home" base for a visit to San Francisco!
