Photos and Description of the Chatham vacation house rental
House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-9)

Everything in this Chatham retreat feels fresh and new, completely rebuilt in 2008. You'll find hotel-quality accommodations for 3 couples or a family, with all the comforts of home. Our architect maximized light, air, and views, with great flow from the upstairs vaulted bedroom ceilings to the open plan downstairs. The spacious front and back decks overlook gorgeous landscaping and neighboring woods. From daffodils to hibiscus, we designed our organic gardens for lots of color throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons, attracting abundant wildlife.

We are in a great location, walk along protected wetlands to lovely Forest Beach, where you can find your own stretch of sand away from the crowds. It's also a short walk to a great cafe and wonderful upscale restaurant.

Inside, each of the three bedrooms has its own bathroom, TV, DVD, and radio/Ipod port. The master suite has a tempurpedic queen bed and full bath. The other two bedrooms can be made up as twin sets or king, and contain all new pillowtop mattresses with hotel quality linens. There is a brand new ping pong table in our basement rec-room/art studio, and even beach towels are provided.

Our home is also handicap accessible, complying as much as was possible to ADA requirements on the entire first floor. Both front and back decks are wheelchair accessible. The downstairs bedroom flows into a shower bathroom with grab bars and also grab bars around the toilet. The upstairs back bathroom with shower also has grab bars. The upstairs bedrooms have a lofty feel with lots of windows and light, and we installed two separately zoned central air and heating systems (one upstairs and one downstairs) for your year round comfort.

Our living room, with two six foot sofas, two comfy club chairs, and extensive library for all ages, makes a great room to entertain and enjoy a book, game, or movie with a nice fire. This space flows into a brand new cook's kitchen, fully equipped with whatever you may need for any kind of feast. We have ample dishware and cookware for you and all your guests - no foraging for a corkscrew here! All of our appliances are top quality, including an extra full size refrigerator/freezer in the basement for your overflow drinks and produce.

An eight to ten minute walk from our front door leads you to Forest Beach on Nantucket Sound for swimming, birding, and water sports. If you want to drive your gear down there, parking is free. Following Forest Beach or the marsh path towards Chatham town, you will find our beautiful estuary. Watch the tides come and go, enjoy the shells and other ocean treasures at low tide. Go the other way on Forest Beach Road and you can easily walk to the Box Office Cafe, Pisces Restaurant, the Cape Cod bicycle path and Highway 28. A five to ten minute drive takes you to the Cape Cod National Seashore and all kinds of beaches, both fresh and salt water ponds, and eateries.

We also enjoy a small public park, a five minute walk from our front door, which includes a tennis court, basketball hoop, and jungle gym for the little ones. Our neighborhood is quiet and safe, with woodsy shortcuts between beaches and plenty of nature for the whole family to explore. Our own gardens are organically grown and we include numerous native plants as well as the old favorites, with a nice lawn and eye for seasonal color changes.

Our expansion of the original family home has created a wonderful and workable vacation getaway, where groups can gather for fun and scatter for privacy. In addition to the three bathrooms, we have a spacious outside shower with ramp and grab bars, and there is ample off street parking.

The ping pong rec room in our basement shares the space with a large laundry area and art studio with lots of natural light. There are two tv's down there and sofa, with plenty of room to fold and iron clothes or just hide out.

At every turn we have provided for our renters all those comforts that we ourselves enjoy, with amenities that will exceed your every expectation. Once you have experienced Paul & Mary's Place, you'll never want to go anywhere else.

About Martha Newman

I am an artist, mostly painter, specializing in wildlife, such as endangered species, and pet portraits. I have been lucky to enjoy both coasts, living most of the year in Redondo Beach California.

Martha Newman purchased this house in 2007
Why Martha Newman chose Chatham

My husband and I inherited the original home from his family and we began our remodeling in 2007.

What makes this house unique

Mostly I enjoy the fresh water pond swimming - this is not to be had where I live in LA and I love watching the trout and turtles swimming around in that spring fed environment. I also adore eating seafood and the Cape has the best.

We had a great time in this house and in Chatham, our first visit to Chatham but 4th to the Cape. The house had everything we needed, and the deck and gardens made for a relaxing stay! Very comfortable all around, and our toddler appreciated the toys and room to explore in the basement. The short walk to Forest Beach was a favorite. We will definitely return!

My wife and I just returned from a long weekend with friends and the house was perfect! There was plenty of space for all five adults and everything was clean and well-appointed. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and I liked the fact there was plenty of seating in the living room, which hasn't always been the case when we've rented before. The area is absolutely beautiful and with the beach and a great coffee shop/restaurant within a five minute walk the location was ideal, plus you're about halfway between Sandwich and Provincetown so the whole Cape is nearby! The owners couldn't have been more gracious and have made sure everything you need is there in this beautiful home. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

Wonderful Place!

My friend and I were looking for a peaceful and relaxing setting in which to spend the Christmas holidays. Pat and Martha's house was the perfect place! The house is situated on a sleepy street in South Chatham, close enough to town that you don't feel isolated, but far enough away that you feel the space and quiet. The house itself is in great condition - a lot of care has been taken by the owners to update the house and they have accomplished that with taste and style.Even though it was winter, the proximity to the beach was a great asset (46 degrees when we were there) to take long walks along the shore and definitely would be a plus in the summer. The property owner, Martha, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. I have rented many homes through VRBO and this is definitely a place we will frequent in the future!

We are a family of four with two teens. This house exceeded all our expectations. It was immaculate, comfortable, well equipped, and well located. Easy to go into either Harwich port or Chatham. The beds were comfortable, the towels clean and fluffy, the kitchen was fantastic, the ac was helpful and the grill had plenty of propane. Martha, the owner was extremely nice and available with suggestions. The outdoor shower was also clean and a treat after a day at the beach. It is also handicapped accessible. It felt like home and it made you want to care for it as if it were your own. Thanks so much for the great vacation!

Great place to relax

We arrived early evening with two other couples and immediately felt at home. Nicely laid out, good attention to details. Immaculately clean. Homey without being pretentious. Nearby great restaurants and sightseeing. The town of Chatham is great for exploring. I particularly liked the large, used book store on the main street. Early morning walks to the nearby beach and nature preserve were refreshing. Couldn't recommend it more.

Fantastic house, very helpful owner. Loved having two zones for climate control (up and down). Lots of helpful information in various parts of the house -- instructions for appliances (all top of the line), directions to the dump, laundry, etc. Only a few minutes walk to the beach, which was great. Some other really nice neighborhood walks too. Bedding was lovely, good hot water, terrific shower heads even! Loved that each bedroom, plus the living room, had cable TV/radio/CD player. House was spotless -- owner has terrific housekeeping service, and landscaping was lovely too. Fantastic property, would definitely stay again.
