I just returned from a one week vacation with my husband and 2 kids (ages 13 and 11). Great resort experience! Accommodations are very nice and spacious. 2 more than generous bedrooms, 3 full baths, large common space, lovely deck with table, chairs, and loungers. Kitchen was well equipped and we cooked several simple meals. Very nicely furnished and comfortable, bathrooms were great including soaking tub in master bdrm! The resort pool is gorgeous, grocery store and restaurants on site. We ate at one of the restaurants (good food, beautiful setting) and one outdoor dinner buffet (Easter dinner, the food was amazing). All the water at the resort is filtered so safe to drink (although we bought water because it tasted better). Resort staff were outstanding, especially at the front desk. Lovely beach. We enjoyed a combination of activities at the resort (the pool, swimming/boogy boarding in the ocean, pottery painting, volleyball) and excursions which we booked through the resort (we tried zip lining, fishing, swimming with dolphins). Easy 30 minute walk north along the beach to Bucerias which is a small Mexican town with beachside restaurants and a market filled with touristy items for sale (jewelry, blankets, pottery, etc.). Really worth the walk up the beach. We had a great meal at La Palapa & returned 2 days later with fish we caught. They prepared it 6 different ways for us, fantastic! Trip into PV is 20-30 minutes by cab or an hour on the bus. The bus (actually 2 buses, but easy to navigate) was quite fun and was mostly residents of PV as opposed to tourists, I rode it with my daughter and felt completely safe. Might recommend the bus into PV and cab home as the bus back stopped at every hotel/resort and took at lest 90 minutes.
The resort is based on a fractional ownership model (time share) so you will be offered a sales pitch which took a couple of hours the morning after we arrived. Not obligatory but if you go to the sales pitch you get 20% everything at the resort (the restaurants, grocery store, excursions booked through them) and a bottle of tequila. We were told that if we declined the time share offer (which we did) we would not be approached again and they were true to their word. And there was a blender in the kitchen so we were able to make good use of the tequila!
