It started out awkward when I showed up at VIP Vacation Properties to pay the balance of the rental. It felt "thrown together" and not very professional and no receipt was given for the paid balance. I was told that the property manager would escort me to the condo. I had no idea that this was the procedure. I waited in my car, since my family was down there. I felt really uncomfortable but it only got worse when we got there. I was told that I had to lie and say that I was a "guest of Alex" and not renting. What was I supposed to do when I had just paid for my family to stay here? I immediately noticed that the carpets were very badly stained. Needless to say, I was upset about the whole thing, but the rest of the condo was pretty nice. My bed was very comfortable. The other 2 were not as nice, though. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The ice maker was not working, however, and when I opened the freezer, I discovered it was frozen over with dirty ice. No ice for this vacations, which was fine for me, but worth mentioning if it is important to you. Anyway, everything seemed to smooth out until the next day when my daughter was stopped by security and they looked on the registry to find me. I was not on it and they insisted that I register immediately. I was on the beach at that moment and I assured them that, as soon as we were done on the beach, I would do that. I wasn't sure what would happen, though, if it was discovered that we were renting and I ended up dodging security for the next day and a half to avoid the issue. Very nerve wrecking. Also, in the contract, it states that you will not contest any charges placed on your credit card. After everything I have been through, I felt like I needed to protect myself. Not only did I take pictures of the property when I checked out, I also discontinued that credit card. Next time, I will not make the mistake of renting before thoroughly researching the rental company. Lesson learned.
