Ojochal Villa Rental Photos and Description
2 + 1 Bedrooms with queen beds and a pullout couch, 3 bathsrooms, Sleeps 4-6

We are offering our new 2 + 1 bedroom villa (1300sqft, sleeps 4+2) in a remote, completely private location in the village of Ojochal, Costa Rica. We offer either full house or economical (1+1 bedroom) rental options. The villa is situated at comfortable elevation of 710 ft above sea level, which ensures comfortable temperatures and breeze all-around, 3 miles from the ocean. It is fitted with all amenities – queen beds in both bedrooms and a pullout couch in the TV room which can be used as a spare bedroom, full kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 3 showers (one outside), all linen and kitchenware. Tinted windows add privacy and protect from direct sunlight, ceiling fans inside and on the veranda help cool you down. The villa has been custom designed with the idea of unrestricted airflow and 360° view from the inside. With no other houses in direct view, you will see only dramatic mountains and forest and no one will see you.

Small pool is shaded by the palms. Veranda overlooks the private jungle forest on the lower plateau, a creek with waterfall and small natural fresh water pool

Quaint village of Ojochal is situated on the hills of South Pacific in Costa Rica, one of raw untouched corners of the country. Here is what you can do there:

-Local restaurants with international cuisine.

-Plenty of wild beaches around, where you can hardly see anybody else.

-National parks fit for day trips as well as overnight and multiday adventure.

-Marina Ballena National park is often visited by whales and dolphins.

-Snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea and fresh water fishing.

-Zip lining.

-Serpentarium with various snakes, turtles and a komodo dragon.

-Good surfing in Dominical, 30 km drive along the coastal highway.

-Or just relax on the veranda, take a plunge in our illuminated pool, observe the wildlife and enjoy the scenery with a cup of freshly brewed Costa Rican coffee or your favourite drink.

-In-house entertainment: TV, DVD with movie library. The property is in good 3G cell reception spot. Wifi internet in the house is available upon request (you will need to purchase very inexpensive SIM card from local provider ICE)

We have a safe for securing your valuables and documents, and a security room for larger things like laptops.

I am not sure how to correctly review this property as we had more than one issue with it. The house was fairly clean and fairly well stocked with the basics. The patio is shaded throughout the day and well furnished The owner does provide pool floaties, binoculars and miscellaneous items which come in handy. The view is nice and it is fun to watch the birds and catch a glimpse of an occasional monkey in the evening. However: the owner lists this property as full house or 1 + 1 economical. We paid for the full house only to find that upon our arrival we were locked out of the master bedroom and master bathroom for two days before we got the issue straightened out. I would not recommend the economy plan for any extended period of time as the guest bedroom and bathroom are very cramped. In addition, there was no router for the internet which apparently was broken (there is an electronics store in the neighboring town which could have remedied this problem) On day two the managers brought us an internet access card which worked only on my husband's laptop. Internet service is not an optional service to us and we would not have rented the property had we been informed earlier we would not have it. The screens on the patio sliders were in need of significant repair which resulted in bug invasions when the slider doors were open. There is no mobile phone for usage. There is no natural stream or pool on the property. From a personal view only, any activities and attractions are too far down a very rocky bumpy road to be easily accessible.
Owner's Response: 1) "the owner lists this property as full house or 1 + 1 economical. We paid for the full house only to find that upon our arrival we were locked out of the master bedroom and master bathroom for two days"
--at the moment of booking the house was being advertised as a 1 bedroom house, 2 new rooms and extra veranda were added later. The tenant was quoted for 1 bedroom, paid for 1 bedroom, but was provided with 2 + 1 and extended veranda as a courtesy free of charge.

2) "there was no router for the internet which apparently was broken"
--unfortunately the WiFi router had been broken in the hands of a previous tenant, a few days before this one arrived. Local stores do not carry this type of devices, and there was no time to import a replacement.

3) "There is no mobile phone for usage."
--never been advertised. Local cell provider sells SIM cards for a few dollars, well enough to cover vacation time calls.

4) " There is no natural stream or pool on the property"
--the property extends far beyond the house, and the stream usually flows at the bottom of the hill in the jungle, not directly visible from the house.

5) "From a personal view only, any activities and attractions are too far down a very rocky bumpy road to be easily accessible"
--Ojochal is a small village and has no asphalt roads, as pretty much all of Costa Rica. The house is advertised as secluded, i.e. located away from busy venues.

We regret that not having a cell phone and lack of WiFi internet affected your vacation in beautiful Ojochal

Me, my husband and his cousin, and our 20-month old toddler stayed here for 10 fantastic days.

We saw hummingbirds, kiskadees, parakeets, vultures, lizzards and various cool insects.

There were many activities for us to do: beach, restaurants, hiking, waterfalls. We drove to Osa Mountains and visited wildlife refugee and butterfly garden.

We really enjoyed the design of the villa, how well equipped it was, and the beautiful settings. You are really thoughtful people.

Thank you for the great time

Villa Selva Paraiso vacation

In Jan/Feb 2012 my husband and I stayed for 6 weeks at Villa Selva Paraiso. The small bungalow was perfectly suited for us; clean and equiped with everything we needed. The setting is very private with no direct neighbours in view. There even was a blender, which we often used to make shakes, and a nice collection of movies for the DVD player. We particularly liked the patio with view on the forest, where we engaged in birdwatching every morning. Every dusk and dawn we heard Howler Monkeys bark

My sister, my friend and I stayed in this villa for two weeks and I have nothing but positive things to say about the house and area itself. We thought the house was very clean and modern looking. I loved the open scenery and large windows of the house, as well as the very spacious master bedroom. We spent a lot of our time outside at the pool, which had a very nice deck. The house itself is in a very private location where your are mostly surrrounded by rainforest (the area is very eco friendly). A private ravine with a creek, small waterfall and natural pool is a nice touch for the nature lovers. Overall a great stay and very reasonably priced. Definitely planning on visiting and staying there again.
