We have a love for nature and gardening. We purchased our magical 2.5 acre waterfront property in 2001. The heavily forested land housed towering cedars, maples & Douglas firs with winding deep water-filled ditches bordered by huge over grown blackberry bushes. Although no view was visible, we knew that beyond this mystical forest lurked a fabulous waterfront ocean view because of its geographical location.
A 5x10’ shed was erected to begin construction. We moved into the construction shed in the middle of December 2001- our humble temporary abode “Lovingly named The Sugar Shack” – thus came the name A Bay Hideaway. We cooked our meals over open fires and had our showers at Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. From here on, we jokingly referred to ourselves as pioneers.
We then started logging the property and bucking hundreds of tall timbers then painstakingly milling the logs providing most of the wood for the Hideaway. We broke ground on April 15, 2002 & we were now well on our way. In the middle of May 2002 we moved up and purchased an old travel trailer to live in until the Hideaway was finished.
From here on it was like A Bay Hideaway had a life of its own. The landscaping and the buildings all came to be the way A Bay Hideaway wanted. We wanted to share the glorious beauty of this peaceful property & have just completed phase two with (2) new beautiful Egyptian themed Villas.
A Bay Hideaway is now a part of InnSpire Resort & Spa.
We chose to build our luxury vacation rentals in this location because of the incredible beauty of nature and amazing vista views and its close proximity to Vancouver (approx.1.5 hrs.)
From the ever changing ocean views on site, the majestic eagles soaring above and other wildlife such as deer, and bird watching makes for a perfect paradise. The grand villas were built ground up from the tall timbers grown on the property creating a peaceful and tranquil hideaway.
