This is a gorgeous Log Cabin situated on top of a mountain with 30 mile views to Mount Washington. Soak in the hot tub and watch the sun set over the mountains. The house is situated 5 mins from Bethel town on a private drive away. The house can accommodate 13 to sleep; it has 3 main bedrooms and then a large basement with bunk beds and sofa beds. The house totals c. 2800 sq ft. The main room is open plan with kitchen, bar, dining table and relaxing area. The room has large windows over looking the mountains. The garden has a large fire pit to keep warm around and toast marshmallows and then play a game of horsehoe on the pitch.
Bethel is Maine's premier all season recreation area. In the winter Sunday River is just 10mins drive away which has some of the best terrain in New England and certainly the best snow making facilities ensuring good skiing however the year is turning out. Outside the Ski season the area is great for golf, mountain biking, fly fishing, swimming in the lakes, canoeing....pretty much any sport is catered to!
We are an English/Swedish couple who moved to the US in 2008. We have a 2yr old daughter who is already skiing! We love the life in New England and our home in Maine is paradise all year round allowing us to get outdoors and enjoy all that the Bethel Area has to offer. We keep a Gluten-Free life style so keep the house wheat free and enjoy the GF Pizza restaurant in town and The Jolly Drayman's food.
We chose to buy this property principally to enjoy the activities of Maine but what we have really come to love is the peace....sometimes the silence is truly deafening! We sit on 2 acres of land up the mountain and cannot see any neighbours from the house. We rarely hear anyone else and only see the occasional car. The views are truly stunning and there is no better feeling than soaking weary limbs in the hot tub, while drinking a beer and watching the sunsets over Mt Washington.
From the house you can snow-shoe up the mountain and find complete wilderness. The house is perfect to entertain in and we have enjoyed many dinners for 10+ followed by roasting marsh-mallows and keeping warm in front in the fire-pit.
