About Barbara Arnold

I grew up spending all my summers in this area since I was 10 yrs. old. I brought my children here for their summers and I hope someday they will do the same when they have children. I love the area in any and all seasons as there is something to be had for everyone regardless of talents, hobbies or interests.

Barbara Arnold purchased this house in 2009
Why Barbara Arnold chose Harbor Springs

I chose this area because of my fond memories but also because of its' universal appeal to others, and the opportunity for year round activities.

Skiing, boating, golfing and tennis are all nearby and the slopes are less than 10 minutes away.

What makes this house unique

I love enjoying the company of friends for beverages and dinner grilled on the patio. I appreciate napping in the shaded garden hammock in the backyard or just relaxing in an adirondack chair late in the day.

Relaxing in front of the fireplace after a day on the nearby slopes of Nubs Nob or Boyne Highlands is warm and restful.

Heading downtown to watch tennis on the waterfront or sit by the Bay is a pleasure of mine. Walking the boardwalk down to the beach and sitting and swimming in the afternoon is the best.

Rainy days do not deter me - with book in hand I head to the covered porch and relax. Sometimes the games will emerge when others also congregate on the spacious porch.

I enjoy walking or riding my bike along the Bluff looking at the spectacular views of the Bay and boating on the Bay is even better. Jumping into the clear clean waters of Lake Michigan is a joy.

I always find myself rested and renewed as I head home from this oasis.

My Happy Place!

Not my first trip to Harbor Springs, definitely my best. All around the most perfectly appointed vacation home (I call them cottages!). Impressed by the well equipped kitchen and all details beyond. They thought of just about everything here. Genius planning to accommodate all groups of vacationers. We were on a girls getaway but I found this cottage would be perfect for my brood at home. The beds are the best- sad to say, the king in the Lower Level Master has a better mattress than I sleep on every night! The front porch was our "base" but I snuck off to read in the TV area in lower level and late night talks were perfect in the living room. Crisp clean colors in every room, space to relax- in or out- up or down! This is my new Happy Place to meditate on when life gets me stressed! Can't wait til next year.

Best rental property we've ever had

Barb's Dimora has everything that we could ever need. The kitchen is full equipped - cooking utensils, plenty of plates and cups, mixer, blender, cutting boards, platters, and even extra containers for leftovers. We used the outdoor grill almost every day and ate dinner on the breezy front porch. Every room has a fan to keep the air moving during the warmer months, and the basement living room was a welcome option when it was hot. Laundry rooms were great! Next time I will pack less clothing for the family because doing laundry was so easy. Everything you need for kids too - plenty of beach chairs and towels, beach toys, and especially a beach umbrella. Our kids enjoyed the corn hole game and the hammock in the backyard. If I could, I would have taken the mattresses home with me. So comfortable! We made several walking trips to the IGA, but with three small kids in tow, it wasn't possible to walk downtown. Thankfully the downtown beach was only a five-minute drive away. We enjoyed the Summer Musique and Farmer's Market. We definitely enjoyed out trip and will come back next year.

This house is freshly decorated and very clean. There's lots of room, and as other reviewers have mentioned, the beds are very comfortable. Three full baths made it very easy for everyone in our group to get ready, and there was plenty of room for our things. The kitchen is well-stocked, and it was a very quick drive to Nub's Nob. I'm pretty picky about where I stay, and I would highly recommend this place!

We spent the weekend here for a family ski trip. We had a wonderful time. We had 3 families (2 with young kids). The layout was perfect. There was a plenty of room and more! The house was fully stocked with anything you could need (extra blankets, towels, air mattresses, fans). Barb thought of everything for this house!!!

We really enjoyed our stay! Everything was beyond our expectations, beds were extremely comfortable, decor was exceptional, the kitchen provided everything we needed and more! This place is more spacious than we expected. Great for families, girls getaway or just a couple! Our security deposit was returned before I even realized it. Highly recommended! Thank you Barb!

Owner's Response: Love to hear you enjoyed your stay! I know you were skiing during the day, so I am sure the comfort of the beds was appreciated. Come back again anytime.

Relaxing Stress-Free Getaway in Harbor Spring

My husband and I stayed at this property with two other couples for a long weekend in October, and found it to be a warm and relaxing house. We were seeking refuge from busy work schedules and thoroughly enjoyed every stress-free minute. We stayed in the lower-level suite, which was quite spacious and included a large, private bathroom and a family room. The linens were luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. We spent a lot of time sightseeing along the M-119 "Tunnel of Trees" (awesome), shopping in Harbor Springs and neaby Petosky, and walking along the bluff overlooking the bay or walking down to town (about 10 - 15 minutes from the house). We even rode bikes around town. We hope to return in the summer, as we had a great time and the house was perfect for our needs.

Owner's Response: So glad you got to experience Harbor Springs in the fall - a beautiful time to be there. You were right to do the Tunnel of Trees. The "color tour" on Pleasantview Rd is also great when the leaves are turning. I also feel the house is great for couples as there is a bathroom (3) for each couple. And of course, the views of the Bay from the Bluff are the best. Look forward to hearing from you again in the summer.

Had the getaway of a lifetime! It was Superbowl weekend and the crew got away from the hustle and bustel of the daily grind. There was a TV in every room and not a moment of the game was missed even though it was tough to focus on the game in such a beautiful house. With three bathrooms there was never a wait and the spacious kitchen that is open to the dining room and livingroom was ideal for our event. The days before and after the game was spent shopping in town and gathering great eats at the gorcery store just down the street from the "Dimora".

The guy who lives next door was great, he told us if there was anything we needed just ask, hats off to the Mitch Man!!

This we be a yearly event for us, we had such a great time!

Thanks Barb!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you met the Property Mgr. (Mitch) and felt comfortable asking him to help with tips on where to go and what to do. He's always happy to point out the "secret treasures" of Harbor Springs - the pnes you can't find in the tourist books. Next time, try visiting Pond Hill Farm and Winery for lunch, wine tasting and feeding the animals. It's open year-round.

Very cute house

This is a very cute, comfortable house with plenty of room for multiple families. The backyard is a good size with a hammock for relaxing. The IGA grocery store is very close and downtown is a quick walk. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.
Recommended for:  Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: I'm glad the two levels worked out for your group. It is nice to be able to retire to separate "spaces" to relax at the end of the day or to wake up in your own style. The store is so close we refer to it as "the pantry" as one can walk there and back almost before others notice they're gone. However, it a block away, tucked around the corner, and completely out of view. Great for last minute buys and restock of beverages even during a party. Thanks for choosing Barb's Dimora.

Pure Heaven In Harbor Springs

I've stayed many places in Harbor Springs in the last 30 years and this house was by far the best. The decor is beautiful and whimsical. We felt so comfortable and relaxed during our stay. It's close to the beach and awesome shopping if you choose to leave the comfort of the hammock out back or the peaceful large porch out front. All the amenities that were promised were there and then some! The rent is so reasonable that we're staying longer next summer!
