Owl's Nest will give you that 'home-away-from-home' feeling as soon as you enter the door. The house is painted in vibrant colors and offers ample space for all. You will love the Maine granite counter tops in the large kitchen, the light dining area and the beautiful views. With four bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs there is enough space for everybody. The spacious master bedroom with adjoining bathroom on the first floor will give mam and dad their own space.
The location is perfect: close by all that Mount Desert Island has to offer, yet far away enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. The spacious back yard has a picnic table, lawn, fire pit (permit required) and lots of woods to explore! The front lawn is great for ball games and BBQ's. The house is child-friendly and ample outside and inside toys will be provided for you to use.
Edith and Ron moved to Bar Harbor from the Netherlands. Ron is working at the Jackson Laboratory and Edith spends most of her time between multiple volunteer positions, writing and taking care of their three children. This summer the family is managing the summer student program and will be the 'dorm- parents' for 34 summer students!
After renting for many years, Edith and Ron finally managed to buy a piece of land and built their dream home in 2010. The location is perfect: a neighborhood for the kids to play in, mountain views for three out of the four seasons, and a wooded area to explore. This has it all. The back yard is still a work in progress and each year Edith and Ron add to the landscaping.
The house is energy efficient and last August the owners installed solar panels. It's important to Edith and Ron to 'go green' as much as possible.
Owl's Nest is enjoyed year-round, with each season's own highlights.
In the winter, the children enjoy sledding down the hill in the back yard, while the spring is the season to re-discover the woods. Summer is a time of relaxation in the back yard, listing to the owls hooting at dusk or having water balloon fights around the house. Fall is an explosion of color, with the different leaves of the maples, the birches and the oaks .
The location is perfect: close by all that Mount Desert Island has to offer, yet far away enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. The children can go out and explore without having to be too worried about their where-abouts. The road with the cul-de-sac is great for biking up and down and we often go out for an evening walk with a stop at the ice cream place across Pirate's Cove.
