The Ross family has owned Taproot since 1965. Taproot was operated as has a Morgan Horse farm for 40 years and managed by Charlie and Charlotte Ross and their children. Today, Taproot is approximately 240 acres of woodland, hayfields, pastures with Fell-Valley Stables located in the horsebarns, The Family Farmstand (raw milk) in the old dairy barns along with Queen City Landscape (stonewalls), and Red Wagon Plants (whole and retail greenhouses) located just off of Shelburne Falls Road.
Vermont has been home to generations of Rosses. When Charlie and Charlotte purchased Taproot in 1965, they were anxious to return to Vermont having worked Washington, DC in the 60s. Little did they know that they ancestors once owned the property before. Today, the eighth generation of Rosses remain committed to stewarding the land for future generations of Vermonter to enjoy.
Today when we return to Taproot, the beauty of Vermont permeates the land and the house. The choices are endless ranging from a walk on the land, watching the sun rise with a freshly brewed cup of coffee or a glass of juice, reading a good book snuggled up on the couch, or enjoying a family dinner at the day's end.
