I really can't say enough good things about this cabin. Aside from the fact that the cabin itself is beautifully crafted and furnished, I loved the front lawn, the fireplace, the sunroom and the front porch, but it is also clearly run by a very thoughtful owner and that can make all the difference. For example, we wanted to go on a short vacation WITH OUR DOGS and I know that sounds silly, but it's hard to find a nice vacation home that's dog friendly AND a very nice place to stay. Not only is this cabin dog friendly, but it is dog welcoming. Upon entering the house we were greeted by a dog bed, doggy toys and bowls to boot. There is a doggy door built into the front deck entrance so in warmer weather the dogs can come and go, and the deck also has a latched gate so they can hang out outside and not get into trouble. For dogs and humans, the walk to the riverside lot is beautiful and the dogs have never been happier running up and down the riverbank, in and out of the water and getting to act like dogs, we walked there at least twice a day. What was especially nice, for those people with or without dogs, the cabin was super clean! Sometimes I worry about places that accept animals and as much as I love my pets it is hard work to keep a home clean with them running around all the time. But this cabin was clean and smelled lovely. The owner placed very subtle and pleasant smelling air fresheners around the house and all the counters, bed sheets and furniture were in perfect condition.

I also loved the atmosphere of the cabin, it is just the right size for two to four people (we were just two), and with the fire burning and the dogs snuggled at our feet I have never felt cozier. I have rarely been to a place where I quite frankly didn’t want to leave! The attention to details around the house is great as well, whether you need extra blankets, a rain jacket to wear outside, pretty dishes, plenty of towels and how could I forget my new obsession, a warm toilet seat! Perhaps this is revealing too much, but that was a feature of a home I have never considered before but now I am sold! So it’s a wonderful, peaceful place to stay, just as pictured on the website, with tall trees all around and quiet dirt roads to and from your cabin and the river or the outside world. Blue Ridge Hideaway is definitely our first choice now for places to stay in the Boone/West Jefferson area and we will recommend it to all of our friends, dogs or no dogs!

Your cabin was perfect! What a lovely place in an absolutely georgous location. The trees were cool and calming. We were thrilled with the faboulous cabin and your lovely decoration. The place was exceptionally clean and looked exactly like the photos. Our doggies loved swimming in the river. We all slept well, read books and even found time for a movie from your colletction. My violin sounded great on the front porch! We found our way and hiked a bit at the New River state park and Fleetwood Falls. We met some lovely neighbors just up the road from your cabin who invited us for breakfast on their porch overlooking the mountains. Wowza! Needless to say, it was a bit sad to leave and return to working life.....

We plan to return as soon as I have a new alotment of vacation time! Thanks for having us!

THANK YOU for having such a wonderful place to retreat and allowing us to use it! We had an absolutely fabulous time, and totally felt at home and very cozy in your beautiful cabin. Even with several days of rain we enjoyed every minute of our vacation. I particularly enjoyed relaxing in the swing on the front porch, and have missed it from the moment we left. My dear brother grinned from ear to ear as soon as he arrived and kept a smile and sense of happiness for the fews days he was with us. He really enjoyed your cabin and plans to get his wife there for a getaway sometime. All of our fur babies had a great time as well, and took no time in making themselves at home. You truly have created a great vacation getaway, and I know that we would like to visit there again soon!!

Our week at the Blue Ridge Hideaway was everything we expected and more! The cabin has every amenity you could want and is spotless. We found it to be the perfect place for my husband and myself along with our two Airedales. Your canine family members will love it! Karla, you have a real treasure of a cabin and a fabulous river lot!
We enjoyed having our coffee every morning and playing backgammon in the evenings on the front porch while Digges and Lois lazed around enjoying the cool mountain "Aire".
Check out "Mountain Dog & Friends" in Foscoe just south of Boone to pick up some goodies for your pups - it's great!
For a great breakfast or lunch make a stop at Melanie's Food Fantasy in Boone and after that stop in at Stick Boy Bread Company for the best bread, desserts, etc.!
The Moses Cone Manor on the Blue Ridge Parkway is really worth a trip. Great trails, views and also a Parkway Craft Center.

My husband and I searched for a place in the northwestern mountains of NC (we live in the southwestern mountains) to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. We also wanted to take along our Goldendoodle. We found the Blueridge Hideaway to be the perfect place, and the pictures were not deceiving. It was as immaculate and well-appointed as it appeared in the pictures on the website. Karla provided excellent information and directions and was very friendly when we talked on the phone. The cabin is secluded yet not far from groceries, restaurants, and essentials. There are excellent places to eat in West Jeffeson and nearby towns, and the kitchen is well equpped for cooking in. The river approach is well maintained and very accessible. Our doodle loved the river. We also found the front porch delightful. We agreed when it came time to leave that we really didn't want to return to civilization and work -- the Blueridge Hideaway had indeed been the perfect spot for a getaway. For anyone looking for hiking, outdoorsy things, arts and crafts, or just scenic rides, there's a ton of stuff to do in the West Jefferson area. Or you can just rock back and enjoy the scenery from the front porch! We found it to be one of the most pleasant, homey places we've ever stayed in, and that includes many beds and breakfasts, condos, and hotels.

This was our third time staying at the BlueRidge Hideaway. It is just as the website describes it and just as beautiful. The gated front porch is perfect for our dogs. The river access is nice, quiet and the dogs had a great time playing in the river. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a pet friendly place to stay in the mountains.
We also had a great tubing trip on the New River at Zooloo's Canoes. The shops and restaurants in downtown West Jefferson are also nice.

This cabin is perfect place for dog and dog owner. It was one of the best vacation rental home/condo what we rented with our dog. We are starting to make a plan to go back this place.
Our dog had good time in the river even she could not fish. She relax and enjoy laying down on the front porch. It was nice breezing and she took nap all the time out there. If you have a dog(s) and looking for the place to relaxing, this is it. There are many bike route for road bicycle, too. Enjoy!

Blueridge Hideaway was just perfect for our needs. Our teenage daughter brought a friend and they had their own little world upstairs. We loved getting up the morning and enjoying the swing on the front porch. The location of her cabin is just minutes from town and about a 30 minute drive into Boone. We walked to Karla's river front property and just sat and watched the fireflys....things you cant do when you live in a city. On a funny note..we all especially enjoyed the heated toliet seats....that is going to be on my Christmas list!! :))
