Incredibly disappointing doesn't even cover it... On the morning of our second (and last) day at this rental, we were alarmed to find 2 people wandering the property. Apparently they were the owners (not property managers whom we’d met the day before). They informed us they were there to do some repairs to the unit’s deck. Our plans for a relaxed day of lounging around were *graciously* changed by our “choice” in order to allow us the delight of avoiding hearing them hammering nails into the deck. Over 3.5 hours later, we returned to find an air-compressor style nail gun running and repairs still underway. Finally, after an additional 45 minutes of us trying to be patient with the owners, we asked them to leave. As the very angry and put-out owner was leaving, she informed me she’d “topped off” the hot tub with some nice cold water from the hose – thereby rendering the hot tub completely unusable (unless we wanted to sit in cold water). I guess it’s our bad that we didn’t take advantage of the hot tub the first night. And, as the owner told us, it was “irritating” to her that she wasn’t aware the unit was being rented that weekend. We were left feeling incredibly uncomfortable about even staying as unwelcome, paying guests.
When I contacted the property manager to express our extreme frustration, I was told they would contact the owner, and that is where the discussion ended. No apology from the owners, no resolution from the property manager.
We will not be back. I do not recommend this rental to anyone as the owners believe they should have free access to the unit and that renters who have paid in advance should be made to leave or just cope with their noisy presence.
Owner's Response: As property manager, we did apologize, but the guest wasn't listening. The owner is new to the rental business and didn't tell us that she would be there. If the guest had called us early on, we could have been helpful, but she didn't tell us until it was all over. Anyway, we stand chastised. It won't happen again.
