Photos and Description of the Blue Ridge vacation cottage rental
Bedroom: 2, Bathrooms: 1.5, Sleep: 4-6

Cottage in the woods with complete privacy.

This is an unusual family home built in the 70's, impeccably maintained by my family, offered for the first time to rent. Direct paved access in the chattahoochee nature preserve in the aska adventure area, the cottage has two running creeks, mountain and valley views, large screened porch and sleeping area with two large private bedrooms(one king, one queen), comfortable upscale living room and dining room furnishings with full kitchen and laundry room. Large spa retreat bathroom with extra powder room. All recently painted and refurnished with original art, antiques and amenities such as three flat screen tv's, dvd, cd, stereo system(s), gas grill, unlimited long distance and wireless internet with laptop and printer.

About Barbara English

I'm a native Atlantan and live and work in the city. I recently inherited this cottage after my mother passed away last March. Renovating and updating this special place that my parents held dear to their hearts has been a labor of love. It has a new tin roof, new paint inside and out and has been furnished with family antiques and original art collected over a life time of several generations. It is my gift to you.

Barbara English purchased this cottage in 1972
Why Barbara English chose Blue Ridge

My mother was a city girl, a perfectionist and loved to entertain. My father was from Cleveland, Georgia and this cottage was the compromise between Atlanta city life and the simple peace of the Smoky Mountains that my father craved. They spent most Summers and Fall in the mountains every year, with my mother quietly nesting and planting flowers throughout the property and my father fishing, reading and cooking. They developed friends all over the mountain and regularly hosted parties at the cottage. I've hired a local housekeeper who is within walking distance to maintain and care for the property.

What makes this cottage unique

Unlike many mountain retreats, Blue Ridge Escape has fully paved access, high speed wireless and satellite dish television with three phones featuring unlimited long distance and local calls. No other houses are within view and the heavily wooded property gives the feeling that you are in a tree house, with the sound of running water from the two creeks nearby. The cottage is ideal for romantic weekends(for one or two couples), ladies & friends weekends away, working vacations and entertaining. Amenities such as the load ramp for the Toccoa river are within ten minutes from your door. Its a great place to hike, bike and stroll with excellent views of nearby farms and fields. The mist from the mountains in the morning air give the place a mystical feel.

This pet friendly cabin was the perfect getaway spot for my husband and I for the weekend. Very well maintained, stocked with all the comforts of home and professionally decorated! We would recommend it to friends and hope to visit again one day, when the weather is warmer!
Thanks for sharing your home with us!

My wife and I celebrated 12 years at this retreat with NO KIDS. Upon our arrival, communication with the owner was excellent! We were able to totally relax. Walked out on the screened in porch and experienced two water sources, one small babbling brook 30 feet from the deck and a steady strong 8' - 12' wide creek, that can be heard as well. If that wasn't enough for the senses, sitting at the approx 2000-2500' elevation, we received 5" of snow all day Saturday. We chilled on the porch nice furniture with heaters, and watched the ground turn solid white in less than 3 hours! Peace, tranquility, and a great location, if you want desire Re-charge and leave the city behind. House is quaint and has a well stocked kitchen with everything you need. Coming back for sure!

What an adorable place! I joined a group of my girlfriends for a weekend get-away and this cottage was perfect. Tastefully decorated and immaculately clean, we all appreciated the care that this owner has put into making it a welcoming home away from home.
Being in a good central location, our group was able to "divide and conquer" to enjoy all of the activities in the area. Some wanted to go rafting while others went off on shopping adventures. Then we would meet up again on the big screened in porch. It is the perfect place to gather for morning coffee while watching the sunrise or snacks and a cocktail as the sun sets.
We had such a wonderful time that we are planning on making this an annual event.

Owner's Response: Thanks, Kass. The cottage has been rented by several "girls weekends" and people looking for a romantic getaway. I look forward to having you back any time.

This was a wonderful family home that has been made available just recently for rental. We brought our furry friends and they were as much at home as we were. Our dogs loved romping in the brook and running in a nearby field. We enjoyed cooking on the Jennaire stove, and grilling on a top notch grill. Books, videos, music, it's all there. There is even a television to carry to the sleeping porch to watch movies in the treetops. The master bath is hotel quality without the cold hotel feel. When the evening got chilly, we lit the gas stove and enjoyed the flickering fire.

We enjoyed glorious sunrise breakfasts and an evening glass of wine on the awesome porch. My Boykin Spaniel and I curled up for an afternoon nap on the daybed. The porch was my favorite place.

There is a lot to explore in the area. We spent a day at nearby Brasstown Bald, shopped in BlueRidge and got apples in Elijay. The Toccoa River is very close and a canoe put-in is right up the road. We even visited a fish hatchery which feeds speckled trout into the Toccoa. Next trip, we'll take the fishing poles.

We look forward to experiencing this unique and quaint cabin at every season. All you need are your clothes and some food. Everything else is there!

Wonderful Cabin in the Woods!

We loved our weekend at this cottage in the woods! Our furry four legged children enjoyed romping in the fern and moss covered woods and playing in the brook. We didn't want to leave. The cottage is warm, inviting, and so well equipped....movies, books, a cooks kitchen.....simply bring your groceries and you are set. We chose this cabin because we've stayed at empty austere cabins before. This is a home away from home. The sunrise is amazing and an afternoon nap on the porch is a must! We could have lived just on the spacious porch, from a sunrise breakfast on a crisp morning to ending the day with a relaxing glass of wine.

The location is also ideal. We visited Brass Town Bald one day, Blue Ridge one day, and Elijay one day. Don't miss the Little Red Apple Barn! It is one of the older apple orchards and a smaller operation but the are very customer friendly. As we had our dogs with us we didn't eat out this trip but heard great things about Harvest in Blue Ridge. The Toccoa River is just down the road and there is a canoe put-in...or you can fish for trout. Can't wait to paddle in the spring!

We are already planning our return trip as we want to experience every season at this wonderful hideaway.
Owner's Response: Kim, you have no idea how thrilled I am that you could enjoy my family's cottage and I'm especially grateful for guests like you and your husband who appreciate the care we have put into making this cottage a home away from home. I'd love to have you and your babies back!
