My wife and I are avid birders and snorkelers who enjoy staying away from crowds, and the loud/hectic feeling that often comes with a full-service resort. Accommodations here were very clean, private and well-appointed. We had a nice view of the water 150yards away and a marshy area that is a draw for birds and reptiles just in front of our condo. The kitchen was very well stocked , and had many cooking oils, spices, sauces already on the shelf. Plenty of good bottled drinking water. We often sat outside on the covered porch area, and we were tempted to fill and run the outdoor jacuzzi, but didn't want to waste all the water. 2 pools were close enough and were never crowded. This place seems to attract a more mature and reserved crowd. The next complex to the north has a younger and much louder crowd, including families. There were some nights where we could hear the music from their "club" from our living room, but never from the bedroom. Nice collection of books and movies available. We spent nearly everyday out and about. We rented a car at the airport at a very fair price (watch out for cheating gas attendants when you fill up before returning your rental car!) and drove to the somewhat windy southern national park (a view of crocodiles and several bird species worth seeing, but too windy to be allowed to swim on the ocean side). We also spent a day at Chankanab to the north, plus a few other snorkeling spots just north of Chankanab. One especially good place was a modest little restaurant RIGHT on the water across from a very large hotel/condo that had great snorkeling. Good snorkeling in front of our condo complex, but much better if you have a car and can head to the north. Snorkeling several hundred yards off shore is actively discouraged by dive boat operators who race up and down the coast TOO close to shore. Overall, a very quiet and attractive complex and unit that we can highly recommend.
