Management Company Poor
This property was in an excellent location and had suitable facilities, there were a few things that needed maintaining (IE Light fitting above bathroom mirror needed repair, a number of light bulbs not working, patio door lock temperamental), these were all minor problems that we were happy to put up with. My biggest complaints were regarding the management company responsible for looking after the property, we rang them on the second day of our 2 week holiday to tell them a number of light bulbs were not working and both pool cues were broken, by the time we left 2 weeks later these items had not been replaced. But the biggest issue I had was in the middle of the holiday there was a bad storm on the sunday evening which damaged the mesh above the pool, I phoned the maintenance company monday morning to ask them to repair it as we were unable to use the pool in the condition it was in, after 2 days still no sign so I phoned again to explain the situation, again I was told that someone would come out that day (Wednesday), no one arrived, finally on the thursday after another phone call to the company they finally sent someone to repair the damage. So in the end we had 3 1/2 days of our holiday where we were unable to use the pool area. If it had not been for the maintenance company responsible for the property I would have rated it as 4 or 5 star.
Owner's Response: Unfortunately I wasn't advised of any of these issues until the review appeared on this website several weeks after the departure offering me no opportunity to be involved. Having seen the review I immediately spoke to the manager of the management company we use to find out what happened because I know they are normally very responsive in dealing with all issues. He advised me that a storm had indeed caused a fault with the pool screen but as it was high up on the pool screen they were unable to repair it themselves and had to call in a contractor with suitable ladders to do the job. The job was put on the contractor's schedule, but the storm had created a large backlog of work and further stormy weather prevented them working on the higher parts of the pool screen over the following couple of days. Each day the contractor would tell the management company it was on the schedule for the day only for the work to be delayed by the weather. On the third day they were able to fix the screen during a period without thunderstorms. The management company also sent somebody out to clean the pool on a daily basis until it was repaired, which ensured it remained usable throughout. I understand the management company also came out to repair broken bulbs during the visit. I checked the property myself the morning after I saw the review and I couldn't find any broken bulbs anywhere in the property.
