Great location

We had a great vacation-thisplace is terrific as advertised. Very well located-backyard is extensive hiking territory and backs into Sintra and the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace. Guincho beach is beautiful in the early am(good running /biking path along the coast), for beach days with huge waves and in the evening for spectacular sunsets seen from the dunes. Cascais is a lovely town to be so close to. Tennis court was great-and got plenty of use and the pool is large and refreshing and delightful.
We were treated extremely well by Oliver, and by and Lily who prepared meals for our group of 20 during out 2 weeks stay.
A special place-I am grateful to have had a change to visit and spend 2 weeks there.

UNBELIEVABLE VACATION DESTINATION

Words cannot describe the beauty and bounty of this jewel of an estate off the beaten path in Europe. Coming from Boston with my two children, ages 12 and 9, and two other families with kids from the New England area, we were open for a family adventure in Europe. What we experienced was beyond our wildest imagination. The Villa is stunning in every respect, from the magnificent vistas awaiting you on the quaint walking paths meandering through the verdant estate, to the tasteful architecture and interior design of the Villa properties, including the newly-remodeled Main House, the old-world Guest House and the rustic, charming Wood House. The Villa is also filled with every amenity available, including internet throughout the property, a state-of-the-art music system, an expansive pool house, weight room, tennis court and a cinema with theater-style seating. We all rented cars, and the owners armed us with personalized itineraries during our stay to visit famous local attractions that would be interesting for our children, such as the famous toy museum nearby, a cathedral made of cork, and, of course, the beautiful beaches.
While we stayed in the roomy and colorful Guest House, we had our run of the place. A typical day on the property consisted of waking up late, having breakfast on the terrace in the Main House, taking a morning walk to look for chickens wandering around the property, playing tennis on a court built around an aging olive tree, hiking in the national park adjacent to the Villa, and then taking a dip in the humongous pool. Our children enjoyed playing foos-ball, darts, and lounging around in the pool house, all while sipping Guarana, a Brazilian soda prized by the owners who used to live in Brazil. We finished off the day grilling local fish and meats in the built-in stone grill on the outside patio and discussing plans for the next day. The adults usually finished off our delicious meals with a glass of local port that Portugal is famous for. As you can see, our families truly enjoyed the hospitality, the amenities, and the beauty and location of this amazing property. We would recommend it without hesitation to any family, big or small!

offering an exclusive 7 star experience

Vacationing in Portugal July 2008 at THE Villa in Cascais (Malveira da Serra) was one of the most memorable vacations that my family has experienced. Having come from Tokyo, Japan, we were not familiar with Portugal but wanted a relaxing resort atmosphere that allowed us to enjoy both the beauty and the cultural aspects of the host country. The central location was perfect for our requirements. The Villa is quite convenient to the Lisboa Portela Airport. Besides the picture perfect ambiance, the facilities were simply world class. We were thrilled by the spacious and luxurious resort property. The private exclusive estate allows the family to relax and enjoy being with each other. The villa offered a little of everything for every family member. For children they enjoyed the pool, the tennis court, and basketball court. The gym allowed adults to work out and stay in shape while the cutting edge internet and wireless facilities allowed everyone to stay in tune to the world when we wanted. Everyone enjoyed strolling in the verdant landscaped gardens which provided a tranquil and relaxing ambiance as well as great views. Barbecuing in the fresh crisp air was a magical setting for the family gathering at the end of the day. One of the key vacation objectives was to educate the children on the long history between Japan and Portugal dating back to the Tokugawa period. The children had studied about the famous Portuguese explorers and were eager to visit Lisboa and see the Discovery Monument. The city cultural visit was capped off by the visit to the old quarters to listen to the traditional Fado music live while enjoying the local cuisine. The best part is that all of these attractions in Lisboa are easy access to the Villa. The nearby beaches and seaside villages are wonderful for day excursions. The picturesque beach was only 5 minutes away. If you surf, I could not imagine a better place to be. The sea, the mountains, the city, and relaxing at the Villa are all great and easy choices. We now know why Europe's nobility and royalty chose, Cascais/Sintra as a favored vacation spot. The Villa is perfectly nestled in between Cascais and Sintra offering an exclusive 7 star experience. My extended family always talks about going back.

A lifetime experience

On our web research we found several interesting Quintas around, very nice.
But we couldn't resist the proclaimed entertainer’s paradise for our stay in June 2011 and were not disappointed.
Almost hidden leant into the ‘mystic’ hills of Sintra it kept some secrets to be discovered.
The variety of accommodations in the 3 houses made everybody feel to have his own special place. Even for the meals we could choose between the dining room in the main house, the one of the guest house, the large terrace with its wonderful view down to the ocean and the stunning barbecue place. We opted for the breakfast and dining service and so could enjoy the place even more.
We loved listen to the wind in the pine and eucalyptus trees, but down on the ground there were almost no winds, only a breath of perfectly fresh air. This alone had a great recreational effect. We walked the paths through the Quinta’s own forest up to the hill site and down the other way through the orange, lime and lemon trees back to the houses and their beautiful gardens and grape vines. But there was always another small path or corner left to be discovered.
After we enjoyed the Quinta to calm down ourselves a bit and refill our batteries the host surprised us with some interesting ideas to get to know the Sintra hills, the Estoril Coast, Lisbon and further beyond to Mafra and Óbidos. We loved the boat trip on an old big sailing boat along the Lisbon water front to the mouth of the Tagus river spanned over by Lisbon’s huge Golden-Gate-style bridge.
Back at the Quinta the pros went for playing tennis or dunking training at the basketball court before the pool attracted us for a refreshing dive. There the ladies meanwhile had worked out on their taint.
The host gave us some insights in the film business and offered a cinema performance of unreleased material in the Quinta´s film theatre in the upper part of the pool house.
Of course the pool bar was our favorite spot, not only for the sun downer or a table soccer match, but turned out to be a perfect location for the party addicted.
Finally we never felt like being in a hotel, more in a good friend’s paradise due to the warm welcoming of the host and the friendship barbeque with a spectacular well tasting fish and Brazilian picanha.
Hopefully we have the chance to come back…

Fantastic place, highly recommended!

A group of us stayed at the villa in July 2009 and had a fabulous time. The place is huge with lots of space for all of us to spread out comfortably. Most of our time was spent taking advantage of all the great amenities there - hanging out in the pool house and in the dining room area, swimming, bbq'ing pretty frequently, watching movies in the cinema room, having drinks on the terrace, and overall just kicking back with good company in a picturesque place. What was especially nice was that there is a place to buy groceries nearby so that we could cook instead of always going out to eat.
The grounds are beautiful - gorgeous gardening and trails that you can walk and take in the surroundings. There are even chickens you can see here and there. You get this amazing view of the beach and because the owner was really great in terms of making recommendations about the beaches, restaurants, and sights to visit, we got to take in a lot of the sights around the villa. You do need a couple of cars for your group to get around, but so long as have them, it's easy to get around.
The rooms were great, and each seemed to be designed to have its own character - a blue room here, a green room there, and a gorgeous wooden guesthouse out that way - no two rooms were the same. Best of all, they were clean, modern, and comfortable.
I'd definitely come back - our entire group LOVED staying here. It was a perfect getaway for a week, to take in some nature and the beach. Highly recommended.

An ideal getaway

A group of friends and I visited Portugal in July of 2009. We needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of New York and set our sights on Portugal. We wanted to spend our time at a place with all the accommodations and amenities of a 5 star hotel but also a place that would really represent the "essence" of Portugal. We ended up selecting this vacation estate and it surpassed our expectations.
The location was extremely desirable, close to cities such as Cascais, Lisbon and Sintra as well as the beach. The size of the estate is much bigger in person than it even appears in the pictures. There was more than ample room for everyone to sleep comfortably at nights and the serenity of the estate provided much needed relaxation and rest. The greatest amenities of the estate, in my opinion, were the pool (extremely clean) and the pool house, which was equipped with a foosball table and a gym. After a grueling tennis match in the sun, what better way to cool off than to take a quick dive in a pool!
The guest rooms within the estate were immaculate, and the outside was lush with greenery. The restaurants in the area were great (I can't recall the names of the ones we went to) and the atmosphere was excellent.
I would recommend this estate to anybody who is looking to visit Portugal and get a taste of what it is to live in luxury while on vacation.

Wonderful Family Celebration!

Wow! An absolutely beautiful place to stay and celebrate the 50th & 20th anniversaries in our family.
This home was stocked with every convenience imaginable. There was internet available throughout the estate. The beds were all comfortable and the rooms were tastefully decorated. The pool was large and well heated by the sun. There was an incredible sound system and music could be heard by the pool and out in the large outdoor barbecue area.
There were beautiful gardens to admire and paths to explore. The location was perfect. 20 minutes outside Lisbon, 5 minutes to the beach and central to visiting many of Portugal's beautiful sites: Sintra, Cascais, Obidos......
Our host was charming and very helpful in setting up itineraries, suggesting restaurants and making us feel at home. We opted for a daily cleaning that was both reasonable and wonderful! We even had someone come each morning to prepare breakfasts.
