Lovely setting, very nice cabin

We spent a week at this recently renovated cabin on Lake Leelaunau and enjoyed our stay very much. The lake is lovely as is the cabin. There were just the two of us but the cabin would be very comfortable for four as well. The location near Sutton's Bay is quiet and peaceful, and was a good base for exploring the Leelaunau peninsula.

We loved, loved, loved our stay at the log lodge on Lake Leelenau. The cottage was just perfect with all finishes exactly as you'd hope for a log cabin but with all the bells and whistles you could dream. The kitchen was great and well-appointed; I even made use of the cast iron skillet for a fabulous apple pie. Leonard even had fresh baked bread with local jam ready on our arrival! The beds were extremely comfortable. We made use of the various patio areas - the north side for s'mores on the fire pit, the picnic table for meals, and the side with a water view for grilling on the very nice gas grill and enjoying coffee in the mornings and local wine in the evenings. Our two young daughters made thorough use of the shared play areas with swings and play house as well as the sandy beach. We took advantage of the available bikes and rode the gravel roads nearby. Rosemary, the friendly neighbor dog was a welcome companion and could be found lounging outside most mornings. Very convenient location for side trips to Sutton's Bay, Leeland/Fishtown, Glen Arbor, and Traverse City.

My only fear in writing this review is that we might find the cottage booked up for the week we'd like to reserve next year!

Lovely log cabin, but the pictures on the website do not accurately portray the property. There is a parking lot and road as well as many cabins between the house and the "lake view", so from the house there is not a lake view unless you are peering through the cars and the cabins and the giant electric pole located smack in front of you as you exit the doors to the lake. Also, the only plates, bowls, etc. available to eat on were flimsy plastic. Very unpleasant. Again, though, nice petite log cabin.

Stay at Lake Leelanau

The cabin looked exactly as posted on the website. It's really comfortable with great sitting areas, and it is very clean. There were a few disappointments, however. There was no mention by the owner that we needed to bring our own drinking water as the cabin had hard water. The smell of sulphur was extremely strong when we showered and washed dishes. And, the cabin isn't literally "on the waterfront" with its own private beach as we assumed based on the VRBO description. We were smack dab in the middle of other condos and cabins and we shared the beach area with others who belonged to the condo/cabin association.

Owner's Response: I am sorry for your dissatisfaction with the cabin. In our description it does state that it is a shared beach. We did send a plumber out to the cabin already to add a new water filter and replace the anodes in the water heater. It seems to have helped the water quality.

Clean and Beautifully Remodeled Log Cabin

George and Wanda had a wonderful time in this clean and beautifully remodeled log cabin. The listing description and pictures could not be more accurate. We were just steps away from a picnic area and Lake Leelanau. The owner was such a great host he had fresh baked homemade bread waiting for us when we arrived. He showed us around the property and told us about some great restaurants in the area. There were two patios, bikes, boats, bar-b-que pits, fire pits and a double sided fireplace for our enjoyment. We took full advantage of this location. We visited the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Winery tours, Traverse City, Grand Traverse Bay charter boat tour and Suttons Bay Village for dinner. The weather was perfect. We would recommend this beautiful and comfortable log cabin to any small family or for a romantic get-away.

My family has been staying at this same resort for the past 30 years. This was our first experience staying in this beautifully remolded log home. We can remember it when it was in it's original state. I can't express enough how much we enjoyed staying here and sharing great memories with our children and grandchildern. We had an amazing stay and I am getting ready to book this home for next year and instead of one week it will be two. Merrill was very kind and generous and everything you need is there. There is no need to go anywhere the entire time you are there, it is so relaxing just getting up in the morning and having that amazing view out your front door. I would recommend this log home to anyone wanting to experinece all that lake leelanau has to offer.

The location is perfect for getting out and about around the gorgeous peninsula, or staying put at home by beach. It has all the amenities of home so that you feel perfectly comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here!

Beautifully Remodeled Cabin

My husband and I stayed the weekend at this wonderful cabin to celebrate our anniversary. We can't say enough good things about our hosts, Merrill and family, and the fantastic work they did remodeling the place. As Merrill told us, no board went untouched. To the welcome homemade bread and jelly, to the great accommodations, to the awesome scenery of the Leelanau penninsula - this is an anniversary we'll remember for years to come. We will recommend this cabin to all our family and friends. Thank you!!
