"I've always wanted to see Costa rica, i spent many hours searching for the right place. Thank god for trip adivsor. The reviews are very helpful. I decided to rent a small bungalow. It is a great little apartment. We loved the size and panoramic view of the Ocean,The facility reminds me of a club med type environment. The staff was outstanding, Gabrielle,Michael and Orlando went out of their way to make us feel like we are family. I would go back based on how they treated us. Very kind and willing to share their insights of Quepos and the surrounding attractions. the surrounding grounds are spectacular and well maintained. Im from Florida and costa rica reminds me of the hills of Georgia. Steep and rocky. The internal road at tulemar looks brand new and a nice workout going down to the beach. Alot of monkeys and birds. I decided to book the trip before season hits...Its the cheapest time and I would imagine that when season hits it will be a nonstop zoo there at the resort and town. We had the resort to ourselves. Many restaurants to choose from. We chose the local "soda" restaurants, the food pricing on the larger establishments are very costly. Seems like the west is priced into Quepos and Manuel Antonio. the US is much cheaper for food and drink. The local rotgut beer will run 700-800 collones(1.50-1.75). Don't forget to get your alcohol at the duty free in the airport. Buying at Joesph is like 3x US. We didn't exchange our us dollars at the airport, we did go to the bank and "I WOULD NOT EXCHANGE AT THE LOCAL BANK" fees are outrageous and we got screwed on that. Just remember roughly 500 collones is 1 us dollar. either divide or multiply to figure out the us cost... The locals are very nice and willing to help communicate. brush up on your Spanish that will help. You can use the local bus that cost 285c or .60 us. We thought the local taxis are to expensive($6) and i found out if a car flashes or beeps its a pirate cab. they run 500c ($1) for a ride. We befriended many Americans there and they are extremely helpful to guide you around in a cost effective way. Don't forget to negotiate for items and or market foods. Pricing is way out of line at the local stores...The US has some great pricing factors and i found that costa rican pricing is too expensive. I chartered a boat for fishing Through Ocean Explorers. The owner is Curtis Lee Wimberly, he is an outstanding, dynamic individual. He will go out of his way to make your experience a wonderful one. H
