2011 Excellent Family trip to Sao Miguel
My family has stayed at this location and loved it so much we can't wait to return. Everything was as listed and the condo was very clean. The pull out couch is a little uncomfortable for an adult as it has a thin mattress but we managed just fine. Building has an elevator big plus. Bath tub is high to step into especially if you have a disability but the condo owners are very helpful and accommodating. There's a T.V. but no cable to find out what the weather is like. You can rent movies from the shop down the street. We recommend bringing an ipad or ipod. The public pools(for every age including a diving pool) are fantastic and are a short walking distance from the condo. If you go swimming in the ocean next to the public pools there are no life guards..you must be an excellent swimmer and surfer for this area. The pharmasist spoke fluent English. The people on the island are very nice and also speak some English which was very helpful when your not fluent in portuguese. We would hang out at the pool cafe which has free wifi . The beef & tuna sandwiches are delicious and so is the spicy chicken wings and french fries, lots of refreshing beer and icecream for the hot weather. There is a fine dinning restaurant just a litte further down from the beach called "La Boate" which serves lobster, crab salad which was amazing etc. There is a big grocery store near by and plenty of smaller stores which carry fruits, vegetables, wine, beer, candy etc. They close in the afternoons for a few hours and then reopen later on. There are always festivals going on each week with fire works. Every night we would walk to the park down the street which plays English music and sometimes they have live bands. We travelled by Taxi to the north part of the island; the sceanery is georgous. The Terra Nostra hotel has a beautiful park which is a must see and thermal pool. Visited the Tea factory...so pretty and historical. The main city(Ponta Delgada) is filled with little shops and nightly entertainment, seating areas overlooking the ocean and all lit up at night..very romantic. We took a horse and buggy tour of the city and they have a market which includes everything. Visited the Furnas area which is another must see.. If you don't rent a car or use the taxi's to get around there is a bus station close to the condo which is another affordable way to get around. We had a fantastic experience and would recommend this property to friends and family.
