I stayed at this place once in 2011 and once in 2012. I have traveled all over to warm places such as the Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida, and to Hawaii 9 times. It is by far the nicest place to go. Nicely priced, nice people, and a great house(even with a pool). One of the nicest beaches in Nicaragua. I will defiantly be going back here in 2013!

We spent three nights at the house during our trip to Nicaragua. Finding the place was a bit of an adventure but once we were there it was great. It was really comfortable and the beach was amazing. The owners also have another lot right on the water that was close to the house. So we could have our little picnics right on the beach under the shade of the palm and almond trees. My wife loved that she could take a horseback ride on the beach each day for just a few dollars. I loved the little thatched roof cantina's on the beach where I could have a cold beer and some seafood in between body boarding. Overall we had a great stay and the price was good for what you get. I've been coming to Nica for several years now and have been all over the country. I love that there are so many things to do and see while there. If you want Caribbean turquoise waters and white sand then hit the Corn Islands. If you want to sandboard down an active volcano head to Leon. If you want to stay in a extinct volcano crater lagoon head toward Granada. If you want a bustling expat community and a beautiful Spanish Colonial town then head to Granada. Cigars and coffee, head to Matagalpa and Esteli in the north. Amazingly good rum for cheap...everywhere ;-)
Pochomil is a relatively quiet beach community for the Nicaraguan elite, diplomats and expats. It's a quiet but very safe and super close to Managua. In about one and a half hours driving slow you can get from Managua to Pochomil and be sipping a drink on the beach at one of the local beach cantinas.
Sometimes you have the beach all to yourself. The sound of the waves crashing in is music to my ears. I also enjoy a bonfire on the beach with some drinks and watching the sunset.
There's decent surfing nearby and great waves for body boarding right in front of the house.
As you can tell I love the place and will be back again. The house is more like a compound with a main gate that you drive into with parking for three cars. I found the place well equipped for cooking. Nice stove, fridge and all the kitchen stuff you can expect from a beach house. Comfortable beds and A/C in each room worked well but we only needed it at night. Outside shower for rinsing off after a dip in the ocean. Nice rancho for taking a nap in a hammock and avoiding the mid day sun. Barbecue grill if you gather some driftwood you can grill up a nice fish or lobster which you can pick up at the local seafood market that is open every morning and about a 30 min walk down the ocean or a ten min drive. Owners were easy to deal with. 24/7 caretaker who is very vigilant but doesn't speak any english. Charades is part of the adventure as English is not spoken in many places other than Granada and San Juan Del Sur. I love the adventure aspect of the country. Your imagination is the only limit to the fun you can have. Thanks for the great stay and the great memory and hope to see you again next year!

We had a great time at our last visit to Casa del Mar in 2011. The property was ideally situated just steps from the beach, close to fun surf and fresh seafood markets. The owners put us in touch with a local bi-lingual guide who showed us to the property and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and sights to see, including trips to Granada and the Pueblos Blancos. We'll definitely be returning soon.
