We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely cottage, our only regret was that we couldn't stay another week! The view is outstanding, second to none! We just loved the beach, watching the tide ebb and flow, the lobster boats checking their traps, the loons disappearing under water, the islands dotting the horizon and the peaceful solitude of sitting still and taking it all in.

This charming cottage was perfectly equipped for our needs, very comfortable clean and cozy and love that porthole in the shower! The seclusion it offers, yet close proximity to the quaint Town of Camden was very covenant. There was so much to see and do, we literally hiked and ate at a different locations every day and were never disappointed.

Thank you for being so helpful accommodating Evelyn!
We look forward to our next visit and rest assured I will definitely recommend Penobscot Cottage to my friends!

Thank you and until next year!

Amazing views, great location, and very charming, but be prepared for open floor plan

We LOVED this cottage, and look forward to staying here again someday. The location is a great jumping-off point for exploring the Maine coast, convenient to Camden but totally secluded (great stargazing). The views just can't be beat and we enjoyed walking right down to the beach. If we had more time, we would have done lots of hiking right down the street at Camden Hills State Park. We LOVE the hand-tiled and stone shower with the porthole looking out to the ocean! The open floor plan didn't detract from our enjoyment, but we thought should have been made clearer what that meant. Even though it has two bedrooms, the ceilings are all open to each other and the living area, which means that there is no privacy at all for conversation, watching tv, listening to the radio, etc. - you need to really get along (which we do). The bathroom has a separate ceiling but with no wall insulation that doesn't really add any privacy either. Again, this didn't detract from our stay, just think it shouldn't be a surprise for anyone.

Hi, Evelyn !

We had a wonderful time ! We've never been to Maine before and we just feel in love with it. Camden is spectacular !

We really liked your cottage. We spent hours on the deck watching the sunrises and the salt water loons. The views from your place are priceless ! And, you're right...the weather was perfect.

I'm so glad we left the place the way you like it...we're jealous you were there a week after us...we would have loved another week !!!

Thank you for sharing your cottage with us. It was wonderful !

Sincerely,
Carolyn

Loved the Cottage !

Hi
Evelyn,

Just wanted to let you know we loved the cottage. It was one of
the best vacations I've had in a long time. The views
were outstanding and we were there during the Windjammer
Festival which was a plus. We could watch the large
Windjammers sailing past the cottage every day. It was truly
awesome. We were so happy that everything was so close. I
even climbed Mt. Battie.

Take
care and thanks again,

Linda

Disappointment

Very disappointed. Mattress in bedroom very uncomfortable. No refrigerator in kitchen--located on the porch. rusty and old, it kept freezing milk no matter what the setting. TV did not work when we arrived and owner was not able to be reached by phone. Finally, owner refused to refund $25 of our original deposit. Stay away. You can do much better for the money in the region.
Owner's Response: First of all I would like to thank you for your feedback, Customer Satisfaction is what I strive for and both negative and positive feedback are always welcome. In an effort to improve my customer's stay at Penobscot Cottage, I am making the following improvements;

I am replacing the cottage refrigerator for next season with a new refrigerator in the kitchen.
The furniture company who supplied the beds came out to the cottage last week to assess the mattresses. They determined that queen mattress in the master bedroom indeed has a defective box spring which they will be replacing with an upgraded model.
The refrigerator that was in the kitchen during your stay, broke early in the season and was removed.
I do hope that you noticed some of the upgrades I made since your last visit such as the shower stall, the dressing area and the new flat screen TV.
Please accept my humble apologies that Penobscot Cottage was not up to your expectation, and accept the refund of the $25 for additional services you were charged. I do hope you will reconsider staying at Penobscot Cottage in the future.

We recently stayed at the Penobscot Cottage for a long weekend. The place is great. It is close to downtown and Camden Hills State Park, but it is also in a very quiet and private location. The water views from the deck are fantastic and the shower is very cool. I plan to go back next year.

Very charming, well equipped seaside cottage in perfect location, minutes from beautiful Camden. Comfy beds, homey north woods decor with quaint vintage furnishings. Meals on the deck watching lobster boats pull in their catch, gorgeous schooners. Grocery shopping (wonderful organic produce at "Market Basket") is a dream plus many great restaurants (bring home yummy clam chowder and potato-onion bread from Cappy's). So much to do and see. Picnic on Mt. Battie or Beech Hill (directions from useful Visitor Info at public landing) for beautiful views of the bay. Owner's "Welcome Book" comprehensive, detailed, very helpful. . September great time to visit, minimal to no insects. Like to cook? Bring your lobster, clam, mussel recipes.

thank you for our stay at Penobscot Cottage

Thank you for the wonderful time we spent at Penobscot Cottage in Camden, ME. We so enjoyed the ambiance of the cottage that we ended up staying there much more than we thought we might. The fresh salt air, the lap of the waves, the gong of the buoy, and the cry of the seabirds were such a joy to hear. We found crabs in the tidal pool, a hummingbird visiting the flowers on your deck, a deer and her doe along the road to the cottage, and what we believe might have been a bald eagle fishing just off the nearby shoreline. Seeing the schooners and lobster boats virtually every day against such a beautiful panorama was always a treat, and seeing them from the special shower porthole was always fun.

We enjoyed lobster dinners and cooking on the grill. We drove to the top of Mt. Battie and saw a hawk gliding over the mountain sides. We visited some of Camden's shops and enjoyed walking along Camden Harbor.

In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your wonderful cottage.

I dearly loved my stay in your cottage. Camden is a lovely village and I enjoyed the shops, the deli and bakery. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I already miss the sounds of the ocean crashing against the rocks, the sounds of the foghorn and bell. Also the smell and serenity I felt there can't be duplicated anywhere else. Such a blessing for me that I came across your website.
