This small guest house is in a wonderful, convenient neighborhood. There is plenty of privacy and peace and quiet. I will definitely return if the property is available during my next visit.

We had a lovely stay at the Rio Vista bungalow. We spent a day walking ( and dining) in the Las Olas area, drove to the beach for an afternoon, visited the SawGrass outlets, toured the area via the water taxi..very convenient commute to the airport and a conference at the Harbor Bay Marriott. Great area for jogging and walking and the bungalow was the perfect size for my daughter and I. No complaints...a wonderful rental that we both enjoyed very much..

Great visit ... our second time in the bungalow

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay in the Bungalow. As before, the bungalow was clean, the hosts met our every need, and the location fit our needs perfectly. It is in a beautiful neighborhood; it is just minutes from where our son lives (easy walk); Las Olas Blvd is an easy walk over the bridge; the local trolley ($0.50) provides quick access to the ocean and beach; the Water Taxi stops close by to take you on a delightful boat ride; a Publix grocery store is just a 3/4 mile walk; and several great restaurants are within walking distance. No rental car needed! On our last night we attended the musical "Wicked" at the Broward Center. (Yup ... we walked to the theater.) Now we're trying to figure out when we can return for our 3rd visit.

Beautiful Vacation Cottage

This private bungalow is located in a beautiful neighborhood behind a beautiful house. There are large old trees and lush gardens everywhere. It was very quiet, clean and safe. Walking the dog around the neighborhood was really lovely. Everything in the apt was comfortable, clean and working perfectly. We had no problems or complaints. The owners were very nice and would have been very responsive if we needed anything. It was the perfect location for us and we would definitely stay there again. Wonderful experience, cannot find better.

Lovely week in Lauderdale

Stayed a week here with my teenage son while he trained at the Lauderdale Yacht Club. This property is located in a quiet residential neighborhood but with easy access by car, walking, or biking to Las Olas Blvd and beyond. The cottage is as described, clean and well-maintained. I thought from the photos that it would be very tiny but it was more spacious than I thought, especially the living room and kitchen area. Owners were pleasant and gracious and made sure we were comfortable. More importantly, they didn't seem to mind sailing gear strewn out to dry. Kitchen was amply equipped to cook dinner and bake. Wish I had found this property sooner. A gem in a lovely neighborhood.

Total Delight!

We selected the Bungalow because it is located very close to where our son lives. But our experience spending a week in the Bungalow was much more than convenience. What a delight! The Bungalow was clean and comfortable; the owners were very friendly and helpful; the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Everything we had hoped to see, in addition to our son, of course, was nearby. The quaint shops of Las Olas Street were walking distance; Water Taxi stops were nearby; the Trolley provided easy transportation to the beach; then after a day among the crowds we returned to our quiet retreat in the Bungalow.
Many thanks to the owners for their generosity.

A true Home away from Home

My wife and I had a very pleasant 3-week stay at this sweet little cottage-type bungalow. It was unfortunate that we did not get to do much around and about town things as we were visiting the Fort Lauderdale area for a major surgery I had done. We knew our stay would be geared towards my recovery time, but all the same the accommodations were great. Cynthia and Phil (the owners) were very hospitable and gracious people always made sure everything was okay during our visit. I would highly recommend this little home to anyone and everyone looking for a clean fully functional place to stay for any duration in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Sincerely, Denny A. Bennett of Bay Shore, NY

Enchanting garden-setting and charming guest cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: March 18, 2012 Stayed: January 2012
The cottage is set behind the owner's larger home in the Rio Vista neighborhood just south of Las Olas. Rio Vista is a safe, well-treed, established neighborhood within walking distance of downtown Fort Lauderdale and the Las Olas restaurant/shopping scene.
The cottage is set in a tropical garden, so the views out of the windows or on the front veranda are quite charming. The neighborhood's very quiet and the street is free of through-traffic.
The cottage is well-equipped and nicely furnished, with ample closet and dresser space in the twin-bedded bedroom. The bath is nearly new [both the cottage and the house are stucco and were built in 1939], as is the kitchen. The stove is narrow but perfectly adequate for small-scale cooking, as is the oven. There's a microwave but no dishwasher, which for one person likely isn't really needed. There's a gas grill on the veranda for outdoor cooking. There's a nearby laundromat for laundry. Wi-fi and direct tv are provided. Ceiling fans and a/c keep the place very comfortable. There's a parking pad providing off-street parking.
There's also an 'unofficial' dog park a block away, and the neighborhood's great [i.e., flat !] for bicycling.
All-in-all a charming, safe place to stay.

What a wonderful place!

I received a call to work in Fort Lauderdale and had to leave right away. Lucky for me the tenant prior to me was just leaving so I booked it for 3 1/2 months. It is so charming, just like the ad says. It's quiet, never heard a car or all night parties. The gardens on the property are spectacular and, most important for a woman I always felt safe. The landlord always made sure that the lights were on when I came home(which was quite late at times) so I could find myself safely back to my door. You have your own driveway that leads back to the cottage. It was impeccably clean and was stocked with everything thing I needed. All you have to do is take a quick trip to PUBLIX up the road and stock up your pantry.
I highly recommend this property. The location is very convenient to the airport, shopping, the beaches and major highways. Great area to walk or run in. The neighbours were all very friendly as well. What's not to like!
