This classic historic sea captain’s house, located just up the street from the Jared Coffin House in Nantucket town, was built in 1807 by Captain Robert Gardner, Jr. A short walk from Main Street, this elegant home features four bedrooms on the second floor with ample dining room and lounging areas on the first floor, large eat-in kitchen and a sunny and spacious garden in the rear.
Within biking distance of Jetties and Surfside beaches and located on a quiet tree-lined street, this is the perfect “avoid having to drive into town” option for families on the go who want town access but also a quiet environment for their Nantucket vacation.
The main floor of the house includes a formal living room, dining room seating 8, informal den, and a large country kitchen with up-to-date appliances (electric stove, dishwasher, refrigerator) and working franklin fireplace, as well as a laundry room with washer and dryer and a powder room.
The second floor has a large master bedroom with a canopy queen bed, a second bedroom with a double four-poster, a single bedroom with an antique iron bed and a fourth bedroom with two twin beds. In addition, there is a central sitting room and two baths (one with shower, the other with a shower/ tub combination).
Access to the third floor and roof deck is by special arrangement with the owner (signed liability release). We are a no-smoking and unfortunately, a no pets house.
