Great getaway weekend!

My boyfriend, I, and our border collie all drove down from Baltimore to spend a weekend at this chalet. Tom was very quick about responding to email, providing directions/instructions, and returing the security deposit via PayPal. Staying at the house itself was a wonderful experience--it is well-stocked(pots, pans, dishes, spices, coffee grinder/maker, etc.) and well-kept (very clean, except for a few rogue lady bugs hanging around!).
There is a lot of space and can easily sleep many more people than just us two--we felt bad for not using the other two bedrooms! As stated by the owners in the contract and mentioned by other reviewers, only one towel set is provided per guest which is perfectly reasonable but nice to know up front--we brought some extra to use for the hot-tub. Also, only bar soap was provided so it was a good thing we were prepared and brought our own shampoo, etc.! The hot-tub takes a while to heat up, so make sure you turn it on early--and you'll want to because there is nothing better than spending a night looking at the stars or looking over the lovely views during the day from the hot tub! The screened-in porch is also amazing--all the views but none of the bugs! The internet is a little slow, but obviously that won't really matter because who wants to waste time online when you're in the beautiful house in this amazing location?
All in all, a wonderful experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thanks again, Tom & Gail!

Wonderful winter vacation spot!

This chalet is the perfect vacation getaway! My husband and I decided to spend our first new years as a married couple here and we couldn't have been happier. The place was spotless and the kitchen was well equipped with cookware, utensils, etc. The owners even left a bottle of wine for us on our arrival. Sitting in the hot tub with a view of a snow filled mountain was amazing! They also allow dogs, so we were able to bring both of ours with us, which made it even more special. Thank you Tom and Gail for allowing us to stay at your wonderful chalet!

Wonderful vacation at Wardensville, WV Chalet

Thank you Tom and Gail for allowing us the privilidge of staying in your home for our vacation. The home was spotless upon our arrival and very well maintained. We especially enjoyed the enclosed screened porch where we sat and watched nature at its finest...seeing the deer within 30 feet of the cabin was most enjoyable and the squirrels were happy to be collecting nuts off the tree to store for the winter. The peace and quiet was so relaxing we stayed at the chalet most of the time. Thank you for the bottle of wine as it was such a nice touch. Your home is beautiful and I would certainly recommend it to everyone who likes to just get away from all the hustle and bustle of the day to day living. Thank you again!

Wonderful week!

This was a perfect place to celebrate our 43rd anniversary! The house was spotless and welcoming when we walked in! The kitchen was well stocked with everything from baggies, to dish soap! After arrival, we had a problem with recieving the dish TV, took one phone call to property manager, and within minutes Tom returned the call and the problem was solved. Our only issue was one washcloth and towel per guest for the entire week? I am glad I knew that ahead of our visit. We rent vacation homes at least twice a year, this was one of the best, even with the towel issue. Thanks for making our week in your home a great one! Our "girls"loved the screen porch!

Our vacation was everything we hoped for. The chalet was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We really enjoyed the hot tub. We had alot of deer as our daily visitors. We went on day trips to Smokehole Caverns, Seneca Rocks and Lost River State Park. The scenery along Rte.55 was really great. When we return to the area we would definately stay at the chalet again. Thank you for everything.

Honeymoon

We were looking for a quiet, remote place to spend our honeymoon away from it all, and this was definitely it!!! This was the perfect place to be alone and enjoy each other. I highly recommend renting this cabin for honeymooners, or anniversary get away's.
The cabin was VERY clean, cozy, and well stocked. Even had some condiments in the fridge for us, as well as napkins, paper towels, bags and paper plates(in addition to the regular plates and silverware. The owners are very nice and accommodating. The scenery was beautiful!
Our favorite spot was the screened in porch and the hot tub. This honeymoon choice was definitely the right one.
The location was perfect, Winchester was not as far away as it looked, and you can pick up anything you want there. Walmart, best buy, shopping mall, etc. Wardensville was a cute town, looked like it might have been hit hard from the recession, but there is a little convenience store, with a gas station. And a couple of nice looking restaurants (we didn't eat at, chose to dine in every night)
The only recommendation we have is maybe a brighter light on the outside of the cabin. Not being used to that much seclusion was hard to get used to not being able to see out very far.

Wonderful retreat

This chalet in the woods is the best of both worlds, with all of the modern amenities of a house and the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of a cabin in the woods. It was very clean and we received very good customer service. They even provided a book of suggestions for the area, with nearby stores and restaurants listed as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from the city and explore nature.

Wonderful weekend getaway

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend! There were 3 couples and our dogs - and we all had a great time! The kitchen was stocked, the beds comfortable, the weather wonderful, the hottub fabulous, and the cabin was great. The satelite tv came in handy for football for the guys, and the
ladies enjoyed the hottub, and the wine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone! The property was beautiful, fall is definitely a picturesque time to go.

Great Cabin! Relaxing, Quiet Getaway

We just returned from our stay at the chalet and had a wonderful time. My husband and I (and our dog) often stay in privately owned properties when we travel, and this was one of the best yet. The cabin was clean upon our arrival and had all of the basics for our stay (linens, dish soap, hand soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.), so we were able to get into relaxation mode right away. We spent a lot of time in the screened-in porch, taking walks down to the lake (which is less than a mile away), and enjoying ourselves around the campfire. We were rained out one evening, which is when we enjoyed the high-definition tv with Dish network & wireless internet access.
We also spent some time hiking in the nearby George Washington National Forest where there were several good trails less than a 45 minute drive away.
We would definitely return, and would recommend this cabin. Although it was just the two of us, it would have been just as comfortable with another couple there, or if we had a few kids with us.

Awesome time with the family in West Virginia!!!

This was our second time staying at this quaint little chalet tucked into the West Virginia mountainside. Our family stayed with another family this past month. We had a wonderful time mountain biking, relaxing, and fishing down at the lake each day. We caught 25+ fish. Every night we had a bonfire and used the hot tub. The kids absolutely loved the wildlife (i.e. toads, salamanders, beetles, turtles, fish, deer).
The washer and dryer make it convenient to do laundry while you’re there.
Luray Caverns is an hour and a half away and is worth the trip.
Next time we stay, we plan on going to Trout Pond so the kids can play in the sand and fish. There is a movie theater and Wal-mart ~40 minutes away.
We look forward to staying here again soon!
