Gorgeous Lake & Ultimate Privacy!

Burns Lake Cabin is a luxurious gorgeous, executive log home next to Chippewa National Forest and 60 acres of private woodland! Relax and de-stress in absolute privacy and north woods beauty. Burns is one of the most beautiful lakes in the area (about 350 acres), with great fishing. This real log home was built by executives who loved the woods. You will never find a lovelier setting for your ultimate relaxation in the wilderness. Listen to the lake, paddle in the kayaks, fish, soak in the hot tub, ski, snowshoe, hike, hunt, or mountain bike on logging roads and private paths. We're open all year!

All bathrooms are tiled and luxurious. Relax in the 24 foot tall great room with the full-height fireplace. Gourmet cooks will love the kitchen - with calphalon cookwear. The house was completely redone for the 2011 season, with oriental rugs and luxurious leather furniture, a home gym, lounge area with wet bar, and rustic log beds by a local artist. Burns Lake Cabin even has an automatic back-up generator system, so no power failures will mar your vacation!

Year round, this beautiful cabin at the center of Minnesota sports and recreation country is available for your vacation of a lifetime. There is something for everyone! Sports enthusiasts will love the boating, fishing, hunting, golf, kayaking, sailing, swimming, running, hiking, snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross country skiing, just outside your door. The more restrained will have a wonderful time strolling on logging roads, canoeing, gently cycling and walking along miles of national forest paths and roads. Then come home for a picnic by the water.

The Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota covers a huge proportion of Itasca County. We live among hundreds of thousands of acres of wilderness and very little private land. The Forest itself consists of 1.6 million acres, and hosts the largest population of nesting bald eagles in the lower 48 states. During your stay, you may see osprey, eagles, pileated woodpeckers, hawks, red foxes and of course lovely white tail deer. winter evenings think about the great day outdoors and curl up in front of your own huge stone fireplace with hot gingerbread and coffee, a mystery novel or the love of your life!

I'm a researcher and an author (Martha Grace Reese), my husband is president of a publishing company. We love our land and the lakes in the north woods! We kayak as many of the 1000 lakes in our county as we can and are members of a canine search and rescue team. Please come north to join us in the most gorgeous place on earth!

Gay Reese & Russ White purchased this cabin in 2010

Burns Lake Cabin is 'next door' to the cabin we built and live in - 'next door' is 1/2 mile down our private road and a mile through 100 year old woods from the public road! We have 60 acres of prime woodland and over 3000 feet of shoreline. Burns Lake Cabin is at the end of the property, in the oldest, most beautiful woods, and right next to Chippewa National Forest. So you, as our guest, share our home woods and the place we love best in the world. Burns Lake is gorgeous (and great fishing!), the woods are so quiet and peaceful - the house is one of the most beautiful in the area.

Fishing, boating, swimming, sailing, long walks in the woods, over private roads. We love hiking, snowshoeing, nordic skiing! We have a terrific restaurant in the area, and one of the most exciting live theaters and art galleries in Minnesota (go figure!) Come join us!

We had a wonderful time! The cabin met every expectation for our family adventure based on the listing and was the blank canvas for our extended family vacation for 18 people--including toddlers to teens. The kayaks gave our kids easy access to the lake to fish and swim at a moments whim. The kitchen, deck and fire pit gave us the perfect venue for simple family dinners and snack times together. We played board and lawn games throughout our stay and spent many hours drinking coffee, talking and "unlaxing" on the porch swing and rocking chairs.

The rooms were very comfortable and the hot tub provided an extra bit of luxury that we all enjoyed. My in-laws, who have mobility challenges, were comfortable in the master bedroom/bath on the main level. We had plenty of room to spread around the cabin and do various activities.

I would highly recommend this place for this place for anybody looking to get away from it all and spend some quality time with much loved family and friends!

Our family of four (daughters 6 and 9) loved this cabin. There was plenty of room to host another family (or two) but we really enjoyed having it to ourselves. Beautiful log cabin with great living spaces. Kitchen stocked with nice cookware, plates, etc. Bedrooms all had comfortable mattresses and sheets. Very clean and well maintained (did not feel like a rental cabin at all). Lake very nice, clear, and quiet with loons, bald eagles, and great fishing. We enjoyed every day of our stay and can't say enough about how nice everything was. We have rented several other cabins and this was far and away our best experience. Our girls are already talking about wanting to return next summer. Thank you Gay and Russ!
Owner's Response: We loved having you up at the cabin! Thanks so much for the kind words. Hope to see you back soon.

Our family vacation this summer was our very best yet. This property sits by itself in the midst of a beautiful patch of woods. My grandsons fished off the dock and provided dinner one night. This home was exceptionally planned out to very adequately accommodate any family's needs. My family hopes we can come again. Every question and concern we had was promptly addressed by the owners who definitely went above and beyond to assure our needs were met. I felt especially lucky to meet Gay on the lake one day while kayaking. I was thrilled to be able to express my appreciation in person. Thanks for a wonderful week. We returned home restored and renewed.

We stayed here with our family in the summer of 2011. What wonderful memories we made. Very private. The cabin and facilities are superb. Everyone loved it and begs to go back. A little off the beaten path (for us prairie folk) but worth the drive. Fantastic owners that care and put the extras in to make it a wonderful experience.
