We loved staying at this great little cottage! We were 4 adults. There was plenty of room for us all. Anything you'd need is included. Loved the French press. It was great being able to just walk to the Saturday Market. Very nice having a BBQ grill, table and chairs on the Lanai. It's a very peaceful setting with sheep as neighbors.

Merriman's restaurant is awesome for a very nice dinner. This location is very convenient to go on day trips to Hawi, Botanical Gardens, Hilo or any of the Kohala beaches. Nice to come home in the evening to this comfy cottage.

Libby is the most gracious hostess! She bends over backwards to make your stay enjoyable.

Here are 10 reasons why you should stay at the Mana Upcountry Cottage on your next trip to the Big Island:

1) It's comfortable.

We had more than enough room for our family of three and I wouldn't hesitate to take a fourth. The layout makes it easy for kids to sleep and not be disturbed by adults who stay up later.

2) It's quiet.

The nearest traffic was out on the highway. At night, in particular, the stillness was fabulous.

3) The property is spacious.

Our daughter *loved* running around the big yard, chasing butterflies, and hunting for ladybugs. We loved the fact that it was nearly impossible for her to run out into the road.

4) It's got rural charm.

Our normal morning traffic noise at home was replaced with roosters crowing and birds chirping. When the nighttime skies cleared the stars were amazing. Sheep graze in a pasture next door.

5) It's in Waimea.

I've traveled a lot and I'm frankly smitten with Waimea. It's got every modern convenience, a big awesome playground, a great contrast between wet and dry, farmers markets, and a collection of restaurants that far exceeds what would be expected in such a place. Village Burger, in particular, is not to be missed!

6) It's close to three great beaches.

Spencer Beach Park (possibly the best beach on the island for kids), Mauna Kea, and Hapuna are all within 20-25 minutes. I only mention those three because we frequented them the most.

7) It's central to other parts of the island.

Hilo is about an hour away. Hawi is under an hour. The wonderful drives on Saddle Road and Kohala Mountain Road are just outside of town.

8) The evenings are nice and cool.

After an afternoon of sitting in the hot sun at the beach, this Washingtonian appreciated climbing the hill to the cool and showery 50s (8-14c) at night.

9) Mana Road.

You could walk (or run, or ride) for miles and miles on this quiet scenic byway. On our walk, we even met some friendly neighborhood horses who wandered across the pasture to visit us.

10) The hosts.

Libby was a fantastic hostess, and very accommodating. She made sure the cottage was sparkling and had everything we needed.

We're looking forward to being able to stay there again!

Thanks Libby for providing us with all the hospitality at your upcountry cottage. The location gave us good day trip access to many awesome parts of the Big Island that many visitors don't get to see or appreciate. Waimea is just down the road with good shopping and excellent restaurants. The cottage was squeaky clean and very relaxing at the end of our tour days. Hope to return!

We stayed at the mana upcountry cottage for 3 1/2 weeks. It was an incredibly magical time. The cottage felt like a home away from home for us. It is clean, comfortable, cozy and very private. The large yard gives a very open feel to it. We cooked a lot and the kitchen was efficient and organized. The beds were comfortable, we loved spending time in the living room with the fireplace watching movies. The peace, beauty and lushness of Waimea is the greatest gift i can give my spirit. LIbby's gracious hospitality added so much to us being here, we felt so safe, taken care of and cozy tucked away at the end of this private lane. We eat and live very organically so to be able to have the local farmers market, natural foods store right in town and the most delicious giant avocado tree right outside our door was really wonderful. An even greater treat - the sheep in the pasture all gave birth during the time we were there - we adored seeing the baby lambs jumping and springing everywhere. Everyday i would run or cycle on maan road - it was extraordinary to be in this much space and quiet. We will definitely be back, already recommended this cottage to a number of our friends. Before we left, we were already missing Mana Cottage and Waimea. To all future guests - it will be one of the most special times in your life .....enjoy! Aloha

My husband and I stayed in this charming and very well equipped cottage for 5 weeks over Christmas and new year's. We just loved everything about our stay here - the town, local farmer markets, our fence-sharing cows and sheep, the avo's, and our very gracious hosts. We were so much at home that we started to feel like we should be checking the mailbox! Highly recommended.

What a great place at the base of Mauna Kea with spectacular views of the sun rising over the mountain. 2 minutes to Waimea the friendliest full service town on the island and centrally located. Bananas from the front yard and all the amenities in the cottage you get at home! 15 minutes to the best beaches and quiet coves for ocean swimming. You are going to find a better deal or better people. We wouldn't hesitate to return to this cottage!

Beautifully nestled on edge of Waimea (Kamuela), the Mana upcountry cottage provided a private, serene, quiet and friendly experience. It is well kept and very quaint and cozy. At night we spent it just hanging out in front of the fireplace. It was great, we had a awesome time staying there. The cottage is very private and it seems as if it was your very own country cottage. It is very close to everything in Waimea town. We cooked breakfast, had some fresh coffee and enjoyed everyday we were there. The owner/management is top-notch and very friendly people. I'd recommend this to anyone, we are from Hilo and would love to visit again for another great "staycation"!

My husband and I stayed in three different places while island hopping. This was our very favorite place! It was roomy, comfortable and cool at nights. We were welcomed with fresh flowers on the table as well as lovely flowers that surround the cottage. There was a bottle of wine in the fridge along with chilled glasses! We enjoyed watching sheep out the kitchen window and admired the banana and avocoda trees. There was an aloha basket of goodies: coffee, bananas, dark chocolate and papya. Libby and Chuck are a very kind and hospitable couple. They thought of everything! We loved coming home to this delightful cottage. Highly recommended!
