*Breathtaking views greet you the moment you step into the great room in the Shearwaterhouse.
*Guests LOVE the ocean view from the gazebo covered hot tub. Dry - rain or shine!
*Toddler friendly with sturdy baby gate at stairs, high chair, booster seat, pack'n'play, and baby monitor.
*Soon to come - THEMED ROOMS! We will have The Captain's Quarters, the sumptuous Mermaid's Lounge and downstairs Enchantment Under the Sea.
The west wall of windows offers a huge panoramic 180 degree sparkling water view from within the house! The upper main level has an expansive vista of glinting ocean waves far out to the horizon. The Shearwaterhouse has everything in the right place, with a full sized and well stocked kitchen that has all the gadgets and conveniences of home. The dining table will seat 8, with 2 more at the bar, or if you prefer you can all troop out to the deck and enjoy your food hot off the grill at the outdoor table, and enjoy the view at the same time. For those days that are stormy or you just want to stay inside to chat and visit, the gas fireplace will keep you warm, and the microfiber beachy sectional sofa will comfortably seat your entire party. Put a movie in, make some popcorn, or curl up with a book. It's all good!
NOTE: The Romance of the Sea, a cottage studio is also located on the property and rented separately. You share a driveway, but have allocated parking.
On one side of the house is the master bedroom with it's king bed and small master bath. The slider opens to the gazebo-covered large hot tub, which is also accessible from the deck door off the dining area. On the other side of the entry hall is the second bedroom which has a very comfortable queen bed and old fashioned fainting couch. The upstairs entry makes this a perfect home for grandparents or anyone who has difficulty with stairs, since the main living areas are on this floor. The large third bedroom is located downstairs. The children seem to gravitate to this room which has a queen bed and a double futon. The TV has a Nintendo Wii hooked up for young or old in the group to enjoy. Late night chats or tv watching are in order. There is a large bathroom with shower just off the bedroom.
The laundry facilities are located downstairs at the lower entry, and for even more entertainment, there are two foosball tables in the garage that get lonely and need to be played with.
CAUTION: The lower driveway is steep. We provide wheel chocks for our guests' vehicles. There is parking for one vehicle at the 'top' of the house for those who do not climb stairs.
One short block to beach access. Roads End State Park (excellent surfing beach) is 1/2 mile away, approximately 1 mile to casino and shopping.

No large parties or events. We have been asked about weddings and receptions, but neither our house nor neighborhood can handle large events. We appreciate your understanding.
High School sweethearts, married since 1971. Because of Debi's time as a travel agent and love of travel, she talked Rob into buying her a beach home in Seal Rock. When they retired from the VA Hospital, they started renting it as a vacation rental. It did so well, that (Debi) wanted another one, and searched for the perfect home for a year until finding the Shearwaterhouse.
Everything is in the right place! There is a magnificent view of the ocean; amazing deck; it's only a block away from the beach; it has a lovely fireplace and a large hot tub. Now that our family is growing (3 grandchildren this year!) there is also space for all of us.
The guest house, which we have named The Romance of the Sea is an added bonus. We had such fun turning it into a romantic little retreat for two!
We are loving this time of our lives, and it gives us great enjoyment to share a beautiful place with others.
Why, these amazing circular trex decks, of course! Rob loves to think that you could see them from a satellite zooming past overhead!
This is a quiet, safe neighborhood, close beach access. We love that the tide pools are not far away and we can see waaaay far out to sea, spotting whales, crab boats and barges.
The house is good for ambulatory-impaired because you can do all your living on the main floor. You don't HAVE to go down the stairs.
