I've rented many vacation homes, and it will sound obnoxious to say this, but I live in a really nice house all the time, so it's pretty hard for a vacation house to seem really nice to me. This one is a tier above. There were so many places the owners could have cut corners to save money but instead chose to make the house great. To illustrate, here's a list of things this house included in the base rental fee that were not included in my last Bald Head rental: Club membership, quality sheets, Land's End towels, soap and shampoo, 20 place settings of Crate & Barrel dishes, good cookware and implements, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent, K cup and regular coffee makers, both with everything needed to brew, beach cruiser bikes, three Aerobeds, DVD and book libraries, dozens of board games, and great quality furniture (we were there to watch early round NCAA basketball tournament games, and we spent dozens of comfortable hours on that leather sectional).

This was my first stay on the Middle Island section of Bald Head, and it's definitely much more private than other areas while not very far at all from the beach, Cape Fear and the Shoals Club.

Oh yes: THE VIEW IS ASTOUNDING. Or should I say, the views. I realized that from one spot in the kitchen, I had views through windows in all four sides of the house. There are forest views from the kitchen and screen porch, and the living room sits atop a bluff along the Cape Creek marsh, with 270-degree views of it. We had sunny days and rain while we were there, and it was always subtly changing with the tides, weather, and time of day. Just lovely.

Finally, the owner, Maggie, is such a nice person, and she was so kind and gracious to me. She very much made me feel like her guest rather than a renter.

We're still day dreaming about our last visit to BHI and our stay at this home. This home was so gorgeous--inside and out--everyone in our party was perfectly content at the house, that some of us rarely left! The owners outfitted the home with everything a large group would need....beach towels, beach toys for the kids, an outdoor shower, a huge kitchen and bedrooms on every floor...having 3 golf carts in the same color made it easy to find each other on the island and the binder that the homeowner created with info about the island and the businesses on the island was so helpful. We have stayed at other homes on the island but this home surpassed them all...for the amenities, private location, and all of the details that the owners put in to making our stay enjoyable. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We had a great time & hope to return next year!

What a wonderful place for a family vacation! The owners were so pleasant and even called us to make sure all was well.The setting is beautiful! The layout of the home is great for large families, as none of the bedrooms are off of the kichen and living areas. Sleeping late was a treat many took advantage of during the week! The kitchen includes a huge island and opens to both the dining area and a screened porch....perfect for drinking your morning coffee! The kitchen is well equipped including 2 coffee makers complete with k cups and creamers! The awesome porch overlooking the marsh is a favorite place for everyone. The 3 golf carts made is so easy for everyone to be able to go places during the day without worrying about being back for others to use. There were plenty of beach chairs and beach towels for our use...makes it so nice not to have to bring our own to the island. Every room has a flat screened TV, but we found that we loved being outside so much that we rarely found time to watch TV! We all loved fishing from the private dock just minutes from the house...it was our personal honey hole! The private beach access was special, as well.We all enjoyed the outside shower and liked being able to see the outdoors from the shower area. The elevator made it so easy to get our belongings up and down. We could not have picked a better place for our annual family beach trip and we look forward to many happy returns!

This home and its owner are the best ever!! Maggie checks in with you upon your arrival and makes sure everything is ok and urges you to call if there is a problem.
The home is wonderful, very spacious and nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you could possibly want. The beds were extremely comfortable which we have found to be very rare when renting a beach home. To be honest I was not sure how I would like staying back on Middle Island, we had always had an ocean view at Bald Head but I wanted to try it-it was GREAT!! I was afraid it would be dark, not at all. Her huge porch gets sun all day and the privacy is incredible, just what you need after a busy day on the beach or to start your day with your morning coffee. The screened in porch is also wonderful. The tv viewing area is very nice and comfortable and holds a big group really well. The whole family had a great time as did our guests. We will definitely be back. I no longer need to have an ocean view, the view of the marsh from the porch is spectacular!! Thank you for everything Maggie!! Forgot to mention the memberships to the clubs were wonderful, we dined at Shoals for dinner frequently and it was delicious!

I've often read the comment and review sections with some skepticism but let me tell you this was the best week we've ever spent on Bald Head. This home was by far the cleanest inside and out that I have experienced in over 20 years of renting vacation homes. Major kudos to your cleaning staff. Location is wonderfully peaceful and the back deck was bliss. We all took turns napping on the wonderful hammock with cooling breezes off the marsh. What a wonderful and private haven. Furnishings in this house were top notch and comfortable, from the great leather sectional to the comfortable beds, bedding and towels. Lots of extras from books to take to the beach, games for family and kids, great assortment of DVD's to the well stocked kitchen, laundry area, nice beach towels and chairs. Did I mention the elevator? Maggie even calls you to see if everything is OK or if you have any questions. This vacation was everything we could have hoped for and more. We can't wait to come back and stay in this home away from home. Thank you so much.

We highly recommend renting this house for your stay on Bald Head. We had a wonderful week with family and were thrilled with the house. It had all of the "extras" and we can't think of anything we would have wanted it to have that it didn't. Great, private location, beautiful view, very nice decor and furnishings, and great hostess. This was our first experience renting by owner and we won't do it any other way again! Maggie was thoughtful and we felt like guests of her family, not renters!
We are already trying to find a date to rent this house again next summer.

This was our family's second trip to Bald Head Island. This house is just absolutely wonderful!!! The layout of the house is perfect, the decorating is beautiful and the amenities are fantastic. The views of the marsh are just gorgeous and the expansive deck allows for everyone to spread out and enjoy themselves.

The owner went out of her way to check in and make sure we were enjoying ourselves and had everything we needed. The proximity of the house to East Beach and to the Shoal's club was nice.

We loved the privacy of being tucked back on a private street.
