About Noa Segev

We are a young family, two lovely kids and a dog. 7 years ago my husband and i traveled through Central America. Traveling through Costa Rica, we cam across Cabuya village and fell in love with the place and the people here. Two years later we came back to visit and realize we really don't want to leave. we went back home packed everything with our dog and came to live here in Cabuya.

Since then all we want is to share this wonderfully peace of heaven with others. My husband being an artist and an engineer, built all the vacation house we offer by himself. I take care with a lot of love for each one of the vacation rental houses. we are both here 24 hours a day, so it is easy for us to take care personally for any problem, request or just questions you might have during your vacation here.

please feel free to ask us anything you have in mind

We still can't believe our luck with this house! Everything was simply perfect. The Port-Prince House is the greatest place to stay near Montezuma and the Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve. We woke up everyday to the sounds of roosters, tropical birds, howler monkeys and cattle while sunlight came pouring through the windows. The house itself is more beautiful than the photographs, and it is right down the road from a wonderful bakery and the beach. The local Ticos are extremely friendly here in this idyllic little fishing village, and it is only a short drive to the larger town of Montezuma. Noa is extremely helpful and friendly, and everything about this rental exceeded our hopes. There is no better place to get away from it all than right here. This is paradise!!!

Wonderful Place!

We absolutely loved staying here! Noa was very professional, easy to work with, and provided all the information we needed to have a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and has so many unique features. It looked just like the listing. Since the large windows/doors of the house open (and we kept them open whenever we were there since the nights were so lovely) we also got to see a fair bit of wildlife (iguanas, lizards, millipedes, etc.) which was fun. If wildlife is not your thing nearly all the other windows that open had screens. The upstairs loft bedroom has a wonderful view of the surrounding forest. We had no problems with hot water and the kitchen came stocked with lots of pots and pans, dishes, cups, etc. The closest beach is more of a fisherman's beach but there are several other lovely ones (sandy or rocky, your choice) within walking distance. Cabuya is a quaint town and not as touristy as the neighboring Montezuma (which is fun to visit and can best be reached by car, though we did walk there one day stopping at various beaches on our way) Be sure to try to bakery right down the road as the food there is amazing! Our group loved our time here and didn't want to leave!

No Stress Living

My wife and I stayed at Port Prince vacation house for three months. The house is accurately described and we were able to live there quite comfortably for three months. We did a lot of our cooking there and as my wife likes to cook there were a few things she would like to have had in the kitchen, but it was adequetly equipped. The beds were very comfortable and we loved the king's sized bed upstairs. The house is designed to dump the heat at night so it was easy to sleep even though the house didn't have AC.

Noa and her husband never failed us. Whenever we needed something, they were there to help. A couple of times we ran out of gas. It always happened first thing in the morning when I was looking forward to my coffee. I would call and a few minutes later Reem, Noa's husband, would appear with a new tank of gas.

Cabuya has that sort of the end of the world feeling to it. In a way, it is. At the end of a road, there is nothing beyond it except for the vast waters of the Pacific Ocean. Although a small village, it has some great places to eat, notably the Bakery Cafe and the Cafe el Coyote. At the latter, Jenny, the owner, has great rum margaritas which are delicious. Cabuya isn't far from either its noisy neighbour Montezuma or the surfing towns of Mal Pais and Santa. Teresa. You get to enjoy these spots but also get to return home to the quiet of Cabuya.

One of our favourite things was to take the bus to Montezuma. There is nothing like riding public transportation with the locals. You get a real feel for living the life of a Tico on the Nicoya Peninsula. Montezuma has a greta beach just to the north of the town and a great waterfall in town. The waterfall was one of our favorite places to swim. Mal Pais and Santa Theresa share a long sandy beach which is a great surfing spot.

My wife and I will never forget Cabuya. No worries just enjoy the sun.

quiet and relaxing stay

The Port Prince house is as nice as the pictures suggest and Noa was as friendly and helpful a host as other reviewers said. The house fit us 5 people quite easily. It is a piece of art and anyone into home design or home improvement is going to appreciate the handiwork of Noa's husband. The house is on a quiet cul de sac, surrounded by cattle and horse pastures, and far away from the very dusty and sometimes noisy main road. Even the roosters and barking dogs are far enough away to allow for a good sleep. We appreciated the availability of the washing machine. This was early January and we found the temperature in the house very pleasant without need for AC.

Dusk and dawn bring quite a bit of bird activity in the yard, so bring your binoculars if you enjoy a spot of birding. Bakery/cafe and small supermarket are a short walk away and so is a rocky beach and cemetery island (where the snorkeling was fairly good). All other places, including the next sandy beach and the entrance to the nice Cabo Blanco park are more of a serious walk away. We loved the Cabo Blanco park trail to a beautiful beach- you have to be in decent physical shape for that one.

We did most of transportation by taxi, but those don't come cheaply (e.g. to Montezuma for $10 one way, return trip to Santa Teresa via a very rough road $60+). Next time, we would come by rental car or rent mountain bikes or ATVs (available in Cabuya or Montezuma) for our stay.

Amazing House in Beautiful Cabuya

I stayed in this house for a week with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. The house has everything that we needed to make our vacation enjoyable. The house is exactly as the photos reflect and is truly a piece of art; very charming and in a relaxing area. The location is a bit out of the way and is perfect for the traveler who wishes to get away from it all. Noa is very friendly and helpful. It is important to her that her patrons have an enjoyable time and that everything works properly in the house.

Cabuya is a fantastic little town. I would recommend stopping at the bakery for some tasty treats- very well worth it. The cemetery island is also a neat stop. The locals are very friendly and helpful- don't be afraid to ask.

Between Cabuya and Montezuma are some waterfalls that are a grand sight and will take a couple hours of hiking to see all three levels. We happened upon Carlos, the local guide, and he made sure that we had a fun time. The beaches are plentiful between Cabuya and Montezuma; we found that each beach has something different to offer. Check out a few; don't stick to just one area.

I would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for a relaxing, Costa Rica paced vacation. We loved it here!

Beautiful Getaway In Quiet Cabuya

5 of 5
Submitted: June 14, 2011 Stayed: June 2011
I stayed here a little under a week with my girlfriend and we had an excellent time. As the above photos demonstrate, the house is a work of art itself, with every detail carefully crafted by Noa's husband, giving it a beautiful, laid back charm -- perfect for weary travellers looking to s-l-o-w down and relax for a while. Which we did, ha.

Cabuya itself is a small town, with one, bumpy road leading in and out, but it has all the necessities -- grocery store, restaurants, a bar, beaches, hiking trails -- plus a few nice extras: natural springs & jacuzzis, a nature reserve, and a lot of nice, helpful people. And if you're looking for added adventure, Montezuma is only a 10 minute ride away, and Saint Teresa and Mai Pais, not much further still.

I should probably note that Cabuya doesn't have all the modern amenities I've grown accustomed to living in the United States (sometimes it gets hot), and sometimes things don't work exactly how they might at home, but in the end these minor inconveniences seem silly to remark upon in the face of the undue generosity and kind-heartedness we experienced while visiting. (Besides, the whole point of travelling, to me at least, is to experience something different than what's at home.)

And finally, I would be remiss not to mention the above-and-beyond help of Noa. She made us feel at home, let us know places to check out, and helped us out time and time again, from setting up transportation, to helping restore power after a particularly large storm, and so on. She made everything much easier.

In conclusion: for those looking to get away for a while, this is a great place to do so. Highly recommended.

Amazing House...Amazing Location!

This house is a beautifully designed house with lots of custom finishing touches. It is conveniently located to all of the things to do around the Montezuma and Cabuya area. Cabo Blanco is 2 minutes away and Montezuma beach is less than 10.

The house is exactly as described and the pictures are a good representation of the house/grounds.

It is at the end of a rural road, and the only noises you will hear are the birds outside, howler monkeys in the distance and the occasional moo from the neighboring cows.

Noa was a gracious host. She helped us with restaurants to dine at in the area and places to visit. Everything went smoothly even though we ended up arriving a day late due to missing the turn for the Puntarenas ferry.

About a 5 minute walk from the house is one of the best bakeries we have ever encountered. From the bakery, on two mornings we got a caramel filled filo dough pastry which was excellent. We also purchased loaves of bread, and a brownie with almonds. One day we also had lunch and was not disappointed.

We definitely recommend staying at this house!

Port Prince was a nice place to stay

The Port Prince was a nice house and exactly as in the pictures we saw online. The house was clean, comfortable, lovely and totally in its own privacy (except for the cute cows roaming about on the other side of the fence). Noa was a really nice person and a great host who speaks good english and will help you with anything that's bothering your mind. She gave us good tips and loads of advice when we arrived. There is a great bakery near by the house and the grocery store isn't far away either. We were also very pleased to meet Jenny from the Cafe Coyote (that she runs). She is a very nice person who also speaks good english and helped us a lot. If you want to do any trips, rent an ATV or need a transportation etc. just ask Jenny and you won't have to worry about it any longer - she will take care of it. We did a fishing trip with Eric and Macho (on the Albatros 1) who were awesome. The trip was organized by Jenny and we had a very good time (and the price was also very reasonable). We were really fond with Cabuya and would highly recommend it - it truly is a great place to stay.

Nice Place

My husband, daughter & I stayed at Port Prince house for our honeymoon after our wedding in Montezuma. It was very attractive and artistically crafted. The high ceilings & fans made it cool enough to sleep, but without air conditioning the house can be a bit hot during the day. I would definitely recommend a rental car, as the house is about a 15 min. drive to the town of Montezuma. The area is beautiful, & there is a nice bakery with restaurant within walking distance of the house. Noa & her husband were very nice & helpful during our stay. Overall, I would recommend Port Prince house, particularly to budget travelers as the house is a great value.
