Home, Home on the 'Ponderosa Ranch': A special feature about this Log Cabin is its connection to the internationally-famous Bonanza TV series. The property was part of the famous Ponderosa Ranch where Bonanza was filmed for many years and viewed by Cartwright fans from around the world. The views of Lake Tahoe remain just as breathtaking today as they have for years gone by.
While thousands passed through the nearby gates of the Ponderosa Ranch annually, few knew that behind a locked gate, just up the road, sat the private home Anderson carefully crafted to house his family. A few years later, his son chose to build his own luxury log cabin on a corner of the property with the most breathtaking Lake views. That home is now Tunnel Creek Lodge - and it available for you to enjoy, year-round. Today, it's one of the region's most exclusive locations for weddings, anniversaries, corporate retreats and special events. Craig & Liz Olson both grew up in Southern California - Craig, in the San Fernando Valley, and Liz, in Santa Clarita. Liz originally lived on her family's property in Agua Dulce, California, at Vasquez Rocks (now a County Park), where hundreds of films and TV shows have been shot for many years, including Bonanza, and Star Trek. You can ask Liz about her run-in with William Shatner, and how she inspired his love of horses, or about her role as a baby in the arms of Little Joe in old Bonanza episodes.
Craig and Liz have been visiting and enjoying Lake Tahoe together since 1989, and have made Incline Village their permanent home in 2011. They love Lake Tahoe, and enjoy sharing it with others - Tunnel Creek Lodge is a perfect way to share the beauty of the Lake Tahoe area with friends, family, and other visitors.
We loved the beauty of the original 5 acre parcel, with the old 'bunkhouse' (former Ponderosa Stables, and now Tunnel Creek Station) below, and the modern, yet rustic log cabin perched at the top of the hill, overlooking beautiful Lake Tahoe and the mountains that surround it. As a mountain biker, Craig had passed the property countless times coming out of Nevada State Park after riding either the Rim or Flume Trail, and loved it being at the entrance to the park 'Just ride out of the driveway and onto the trail!'
