Max is a retired school professor and his wife, Joan, an artist and writer, own the property. We sought a second home in the country for summers and holidays as well as to experience a different lifestyle from our urban life in Brooklyn. Upon retirement, this became our permanent home. The original house (which was build in 1825) burned down and was totally rebuilt in the similar style, in 1990. We now live in California for most of the year so we can be close to our grandchildren.
We wanted lots of nature and we got it. Mountains, the river, open skies and our garden are the highlights. Great memories were created for our family here: swimming in the river, reading by the fire, hiking on our property, and great meals with fresh food from the local farmer's market.
