I'm almost hesitant to write a review of this condo as I know my praises will make it more challenging to find it available on my next visit! My Mom and I have always enjoyed our annual trip to Longboat Key. This was going to be our 25th year sharing this special time together. We spent most of those 25 years at the Colony Club. Since The Colony recently closed, I was worried > Would we find a place that isn't hotel like, that is sandy feet friendly; warm and relaxing; not crowded; not decorated tacky tourist Florida cheesy (Miami Vice pastels, flamingos, etc); a place that felt like a simple beach place but not budget busting or pretentious; not worn or weathered rather comfortable, clean and homey? As a native Floridian, I'm quite picky about where I stay. I was a little concerned when we drove up to the property, as from the street view, the property lacks curb appeal, looks like a Florida motel...nothing wrong with a motel, but not typically where we'd stay for a week at Longboat Key. But despite the first street impressions, I'm more than excited to know that we found our new LBK Home! The view and beach access can't be beat from this place. My Mom who can't handle the sun very well loved the palapa just steps from our unit. The owners clearly have a lot of pride in their condo. From the beach friendly beautiful tiling, to the comfortable furniture, and the well stocked supplies in the kitchen, you had the feeling that these owners are people who spent a lot of time making this their home not a rental. I love that! I felt like it was my own condo and treated it that way during our stay. This unit is perfect for two people. (I might find it too crowded for more than that). Daily, I was telling my Mom how much I loved this place and how grateful I was that we found our new home for the next 25 years! To the owners: Thank you for becoming a part of our family, our new special Mother * Daughter tradition! And to Harry the Heron: Thanks for the memories and for coming to say goodbye at the palapa our last day! We'll be back!
