We were a family of 9 traveling together on a cruise and we wanted a little more time in Sydney. This house was perfect for us. The location was excellent. We were able to walk to a wonderful grocery store shortly after arriving and get all we needed for our stay. We were blocks from the ferry and walking in town was great. We walked to the train and went into the city. It was a wonderful finish to a great vacation and a great way for the family to stay together. Meredith and Gary were great hosts, easy to work with. They left a very useful book of suggested things to do, places to go, places to eat and things not to miss that was greatly appreciated. We highly reccomend this house, it was very comfortable and clean.

We stayed at the Double Bay Villa for one week from March 10 - 17th. The location was absolutely perfect. We were travelling with 8 adults and the accomodations fit our needs in every way. The ferry and buses are one block away and there are great coffee shops and restaurants in the area. Would definitely recommend.

We loved the location and accommodations during our recent stay in Double Bay. It was one block from the ferry and markets making it so convenient to get around without renting a car. It was so central to getting around the Sydney area.Meredith was great.

Great out of central city location.
Well fitted out and ideal for a group travelling together. Plenty of space in house.

Owner's Response: Guest loved close proximity to Harbour and Sailing Club where they competed in Sailing Championships and want to return next year. Guests also enjoyed the village atmosphere and local cafes, restaurants and hotels within easy stroll of home.

Was better than the photos. Perfect location, close to everything (definitely check out the restaurants nearby) and fully stocked with everything we needed for our stay. My fellow vacationers were really impressed (as was I). Would highly recommend it to anyone.

This Double Bay Villa was perfect in nearly every way. It was comfortable, yet roomy for a family. It was within a short distance to catch the ferry or bus into Sydney, Watson Bay, Bondi, or Manly. The owners were very helpful with a few special requests of ours. If you are looking for a perfect Sydney location, this is the place. The advertisement was correct : We DIDN'T want to leave !

Great location with plenty of room for six!

We had a very pleasant stay this past month (June 2011) – we were nearing the end of a 3+ weeks tour thru AU and NZ and this house and location fit the bill nicely. Compared to some of the hotels/lodges we stayed at, the house had lots of room to relax and spread out in - we had three young adults, and three of us middle age types and liked the open layout downstairs.
The location is very good – a simple 5 minute walk to the ferry dock, and 10-12 minute walk to Edgecliff station. We bought passes for the ferry / trains for the week and that worked well - we went to downtown Sydney locations, Bondi Beach and Manley with no issues or rush. Getting to the Rocks was a short ferry ride and a short walk. At night, we were able to readily walk to get groceries, and other essentials. The house has lots of good info on getting around, where to go and best way to get there. The patio was nice to simply sit outside, grill dinner or simply relax. There is a taxi stand nearby for those that don't have a car. Since it was winter we did not have chance to check out the pool / back yard.
The bedrooms are nice – especially the master which had plenty of room to unpack and unwind. All of the bedrooms are upstairs which is a plus for later in the evening. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The hosts were available for questions and very cordial during our stay. Clearly they wanted to make sure we enjoyed our visit.
We want to return someday in the summer and will try this again.

This was the perfect place for a family vacation, convenient for lots of good restaurants, shops, and two blocks from the ferry which takes you all over Sydney harbour, a sublime experience. We ate wonderful lunches at the yacht club (open to non members) which has incredible views of the harbour. We walked to the Redleaf Pool, a huge enclosed harbour swimming pool, for early morning swims. ( a ten minute walk). We had Christmas lunch in the private garden, with swimming pool at the back of the house- a quiet and private area. We had massages and manicures in the very swish Double Bay shopping centre, which would also be a shopperholics paradise with its range of great (but expensive ) boutiques and shops. We took ferry rides across the harbour, and in the end didn't bother to hire a car as transport from Double Bay was convenient for the city and other suburbs such as Bondi. If you are catering for a variety of age groups this property, and its Double Bay location has something for everyone.
The house itself was light, airy and well maintained. Gary and Meredith could not have been more helpful, and friendly. They left excellent notes about the local attractions. I would highly recommend to family and friends.
