Photos and Description of the San Juan vacation apartment rental
2 Bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, sleeps 5

This apartment is unique! This amazing artsy loft is in a historic building. The loft is on street level. No carrying luggage up a steep flight of stairs or walking down some dark corridor to reach it. 20 ft. high ceilings and marble floors in the lower level. Hard wood stairs (comfortable to climb, not too steep) lead you to the second level where the beautifully designed kitchen, the dining area and bedrooms are located. All hard wood floor on the second level. An original mural by artist Sofia Maldonado adorns the hallway. Stunning contemporary art pieces on all the walls.

The spacious master bedroom has a queen size bed. The second room has two twin beds and a small futon. In total we can accomodate 5 people. Most apartments in Old San Juan have just one bathroom. Ours has 1 1/2 bathrooms. Full bathroom on the first floor and 1/2 bathroom on the second. Quiet, comfortable, spacious, a/c in all areas. Condominium has two interior patios in common areas. This apartment is very elegant! You will live a luxurious vacation if you stay in the Artsy Loft.

You can easily walk all Old San Juan and dine at the most renowned restaurants, visit the forts and see the most spectacular views of the San Juan Bay and Atlantic Ocean. Starbucks, Old Harbor Brewery, local bars, the most lively 'plazas' are one and two blocks away. Long walk (with Atlantic Ocean View) to Escambron beach, Condado and Miramar or take the bus or a cab! Taxi and bus stand are a block away. Visit Old Sand Juan and experience the Old City in the most extraordinary artsy setting!!

About Lourdes or Sofia

I love Old San Juan. It is like a small village full of charm, history and wonderful people! You haven't been to Puerto Rico if you don't stay in Old San Juan.

Lourdes or Sofia purchased this apartment in 2009
Why Lourdes or Sofia chose San Juan

We needed a lot of imagination when we bought this loft! We had to rebuild it from scratch. But that is the fun of it! Today, it is nowhere near what it was then. The restauration took over a year. But we knew it was going to be unique! And it is!! Marble and hard wood floors, exquisite contemporary art, all new appliances. It is the Artsy Loft! Unique in Old San Juan.

What makes this apartment unique

It is situated in one of the best streets in San Juan, close to all the great restaurants and hotels. Completely repaved, Tetuan Street goes from the Teatro Tapia up to la Capilla del Cristo. It is a wonderful promenade. It is also close to the port and the beautiful Paseo La Princesa. Walking distance from taxi stand, bus stop and parking lots. What more could I ask for!

Convenient loft flat in Old San Juan

Four of us lodged comfortably in this very spacious, shiny clean "artsy loft" in middle of old San Juan. We liked being able to park our rental car in a close nearby garage and leave it there for several days.We liked the secure entry. The two bedrooms had comfortable beds, bed lamps and good closet space. The kitchen was particularly well equipped with toasters, coffee pots, a cooktop and a microwave and plenty of dishes, pots and cutlery..and we did cook breakfast and lunch there with ease. The fridge was spacious. The main bathroom on the level of the living room had a hair dryer, large shower etc. The downstairs living room was a cool refuge from the 75-85 degree heat outside, and a place to relax after trekkng all over the big fort and castle. One problem was kitchen did not have hot water..we would warm some water on the cooktop. Plenty of hot water in downstairs full bathroom for showers. There is a half bath upstairs directly off the kitchen. The furnishings are practical and of good design. We enjoyed the 'artsy' part. Most walls had intriguing full scale paintings hanging which made the apartment very colorful and fun with a contemporary aura. . Our landlady was very engaging and went to great lengths to take care of some of our requests. She was an earnest host who wanted to be sure her tenants were happy. We were very happy. Forgot to mention..there are great restaurants, museums, a supermarket and plenty of shops all within walking distance.

Fantastic base for exploring Old San Juan

My family stayed 3 nights in this fabulous loft space in Old San Juan March 2013. We had a wonderful time! The bedrooms were clean, comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Having the kitchen space made the visit more affordable and easier. The art was such a wonderful bonus. Parking was very close by and reasonable, but this loft is so close to both taxi and bus that you could go without a car for your visit. We got to explore both castillo's (El Morro and San Cristobal) at our liesure. I can't wait to come back!

This artsy condo was the perfect place to stay for my brother's wedding. The loft was spacey, decorated well, and was more elegant than I expected. It was also very clean and priced very well.

First Old San Juan Vacation

We enjoyed staying in a apartment rather than a hotel or bed & breakfast room. The art work in the "Artsy Loft" made it even more enjoyable for our stay there. Having a kitchen to fix something between the times we went out to eat. The area had plenty of things to see and do. The listing was accurate, clean and well maintained. The owner was there to meet us and answer any questions. A car was needed for travel to other parts of Puerto Rico but not necessary for local sightseeing. Parking was a problem if not using the parking garage which was about an average of $8 a day. Recommend the Fort, shopping and trying a variety of the restaurants within walking distance. The Bacardi tour is a must which is reached easily with the ferry and a cheap shuttle ride.

Excellent Old San Juan escape!

We arrived by car to Old San Juan. The owner gave us much information prior to our arrival about restaurants, facilities, activities within driving distance etc, and also detailed instructions on how to reach the apartment. When we arrived, the owner guided us through everything we needed to know about the condo for keys, guest member passes, She was also easy to contact in case of any questions on our part concerning the apartment and how to leave it upon checkout. The pictures on the site are exactly how we found the villa upon arrival. Everything was beautiful and perfectly clean. The art pieces are remarkable!!! There is a lot to do around Old San Juan. Staying with a group of 4 was very comfortable with plenty of space for all. I think the quality of the apartment combined with the location and price, make it an incredible deal. We would be happy to return next year!

Since we had never stayed in a home away we were a bit worried about trying this instead of a hotel - but it was a good choice. The place was as advertised. The loft was clean, roomy and well maintained. It was in an excellent location in Old San Juan. Close to everything!!! I would definitiely stay at this place again and recommend it to friends.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is fantastic, couldn't possibly be better. Within walking distance of everything Old San Juan has to offer, tourist sites, bay, restaurants, shopping. Kitchen very nicely equipped for meal preparation. Charming place. Lourdes and Wanda were both very concerned about our satisfaction, and Wanda in particular was extremely helpful. Nice people! We will definitely stay here again when we return to Puerto Rico. Loved it!!

Personally the photos don't do the apartment justice. It was exceptionally clean & the host Wanda was very pleasant. If you are looking for somewhere relaxing to stay this apartment would be your best option. We arrived at the apartment thursday the 8th early morning. The blinds were excellent. I am unable to sleep if i glimpse the slightest ray of sunlight. I loved that that took care of it. Also this apartment is practically in the middle of everything. My only issue was with the shower which was a bit small but very clean so i didn't feel icky at all. The Air conditioning work superbly, the stove is is not the best but it does the job. be careful when making greasy breakfast i.e.;bacon. We went there for my roommates birthday who also got engaged the second night we were there. So for it now hold sentimental value to us. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a relaxing time.
