This apartment was a nice home away from home for a week while we visited family that has relocated to the Bay area. The descriptions and pictures on VRBO are accurate, as are the other reviews. Lupe was friendly and courteous answering our questions and completing the rental details.

Location is a big plus as it is only a block from Piedmont Ave but is on a quiet residential street. Drive a few blocks to the freeway and you are on your way to anywhere in the city. The off street parking was great- always knew when we returned there was a place to park right by our door.

Check this one out if you want a comfortable, nicely furnished rental. We will try to stay here again.

We stayed at Lupe's vacation rental during our recent trip to the Bay Area. We came out to Oakland to revisit the scene of many happy years and to help get our son get settled into a Rockridge apartment. We could not have asked anything more from a rental apartment. It was comfortable, safe, convenient, pleasant, clean, more than adequate for the two of us. The location was ideal. Among the highlights were the great kitchen and the eclectic collection of books. More than any one specific attribute of the apartment, all of which were positive, we were impressed with Lupe's seamless and thoughtful attention to details as he quietly made our stay at his rental both memorable and gratifying. We recommend his vacation rental wholly, unreservedly, completely.

My husband and I stayed at Lupe’s Piedmont rental with our 10 year old Labrador for our 2 week stay in Oakland. What a gem this place is! In general, it had a cozy feel and we felt right at home as soon as we got there. The bed was very comfortable and the large deck off the bedroom was a nice touch for outdoor drinks and meals. It also provided for a very nice breeze into the bedroom at night. The kitchen had all the amenities you would need to cook and serve a meal to family and/or guests. The place is tastefully decorated with Craftsman style furnishings, beautiful rugs, and original artwork. The kitchen and bath fixtures are all upgraded quality. The washer/dryer is conveniently located inside on the same level. The backyard has plenty of both sun and shade. It is fully secure and has a very well kept, lush green lawn. The neighbors below are also very friendly and quiet.
You really can’t beat this location! Only a block to the grocery store and an easy stroll to so many great cafes and restaurants on Piedmont Ave. (Café Trieste was a favorite!)

I highly recommend this vacation rental! Lupe was very attentive and accommodating. I hope to stay there again when my travels take me back to the Bay Area!

We spent a most enjoyable month (April 2012) in Lupe's upstairs duplex. The apartment is just as described ... the kitchen is great, the living room very comfortable, the backyard peaceful, and the broadband internet works well ... Plus you are so close to all of the restaurants and coffee shops on Piedmont Avenue. Right behind the Piedmont Grocery --- you cannot go wrong with this location. We always felt very safe in this neighborhood. Lupe is a very attentive landlord and made sure everything was kept in working order. Highly recommended...

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful apartment for three weeks when our daughter had her second baby. The location is great, with a wonderful market and coffee shop right next door. The kitchen was amazing, as it was stocked with every appliance and utensil that would be needed to cook a great meal. I highly recommend this property.

My wife and I stayed at this property from 9/1/11 to 10/1/11 while visiting our son. This is a very clean, well kept property. Great for extended stays. Piedmont Grocery is nearby. Many, many coffee shops nearby. Many book stores nearby. Walk to almost anything - nearby. We seldom needed a car. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker (Mr. Coffee), expresso maker and coffee bean grinder. It has all the pots and pans and dishes you will need - if you are used to cooking for yourself. There are restaurant-level pots and pans for every type of meal preparation. Or you can re-heat food in the large microwave oven. The dining room is easily large enough for 8 people. Great flat screen TV and DVD player. Lots of art on the walls. Beautiful back balcony with lots of sunshine or shade, if you use the table with a large umbrella. We loved the shower.

We met the owner, Lupe, and he was a very nice person, we hope to be friends for a long time. Lupe is knowledgeable about the area, he is well read, knows lots about the arts, he is a world traveler (he was about to go to Spain) and knows what the typical traveler needs while away from home. This property IS "a home away from home." We have vacationed in the Bay Area using VRBO and this property is the best yet - location wise and amenities wise. We hope to be back to this apartment many times in the future.

My parents, who were visiting from out of town for a week, had a very enjoyable stay at the house. It was spacious and very well-located less than a block away from many fine restaurants, cafes, and shops of Piedmont Ave. The owner even provided a new BBQ grill at my request for the backyard so we could enjoy the beautiful Bay Area weather together. We will be coming back to this house next summer. Thank you!

The apartment was a fabulous stay for my parents, who came out to visit me & my husband for 1.5 weeks. Very comfortable, it had all the amenities that they needed, a great location (around the corner from Piedmont Ave), & very reasonable rates for all that they received. They loved the decor, the neighbors, the patio, & the neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this location. Next time they come out to visit, I know they'll ask for this apartment again.
