Middleton House is a handsome recently restored residence with private gardens in the heart of historic Lexington, Virginia. This small, friendly town lies between the Blue Ridge and Appalachian mountains. It retains a vibrant downtown--rich in historic buildings, shops, art galleries, and restaurants featuring locally raised foods--bordered by Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. Picturesque narrow streets lead to the Lee Museum, VMI Museum, several theaters, Confederate general Stonewall Jackson's house, the Maury River, and riverside trails--all within easy walking distance. A car gives easy access to kayaking, mountain-biking and hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail), scenic Goshen Pass, and spectacular Natural Bridge.
