Amazing Spot!

“We truly enjoyed this home! The Naval vessels, cargo ships, sail boats, lobstermen working their traps, the view, the wild life, the easy access to Halifax and surrounding areas, all made this a GREAT location. When I initially rented this home, I thought we would be isolated. However, it turned out to be a very convenient base of operations. We easily made our way through much of central Nova Scotia. We had four adults and it was a perfect place for our number.
Actually, we believe it might be better if we had left a few more surprises for you.
It was great to experience the home with limited information.
We do not believe you will be disappointed.”

We have visitted Halifax on several occassions but have never enjoyed ourselves as much as we did when we stayed in this casual, elegant home. The house was immaculately clean, and beautifully deocrated in a lovely seaside theme that made you feel relaxed and comfortable. Every attention to detail was given to make sure that you felt at home during your stay, including extra toilleteries, an extensive library (I am an avid reader but could barely take my eyes off the water to bother reading any of the wonderful books that were left for guests to enjoy!), and a thoughtfully made book that contained maps, information on the area, and take out menus. We are fans of staying in rental homes and not all places provide thoughtful extras such as these. We rarely left the house other than to shop as we enjoyed watching the whales and seals feed, sailboat races and lobster fishermen not to bringing in thier catches, not to mention all of the different boats coming and going. We were sad to leave but know we will return to enjoy another vacation here and would not hesitate to recommend this property!

What a great stay we experienced at the Cove House this winter. The weather so moderated by the Halifax Harbour, it seemed like spring while it snowed everywhere else !!!! Minutes to downtown with fabulous shops and restaurants and 45 minutes to the historic South Shores.
I am a professional Interior Designer from Ontario looking to buy my own vacation/retirement home in Nova Scotia. This area is so perfect, I have limited my search to this location. The views are the best I have seen anywhere here. Our deck is 30 feet above the shore; to our left is Halifax (the best light show at night) and to our right is the open Atlantic Ocean. Interesting activities right out front as well. A direct view of the shipping channel allowed us to witness our Canadian Navy practices including our submarine and many helicopters. Then the wildlife at our doorstep. We fed the resident Seagull "Sigmund" every morning and two ducks who came to feast whom we named Sid and Myrtle. My dog Lucy was with me and enjoyed her yard and this wildlife also. I do not know if these birds ever met a Standard Poodle before ???
It was imperative to rise early to witness the colourful sunrises across the Atlantic. At night, again awesome as the moon shone into our view. It was as if we were the only ones on earth ... no one in our sightline whatsoever. Just one problem, you never want to venture out !!!! Views & peace everywhere and a wonderful large open concept main floor to entertain in.
As an Interior Designer I especially appreciated the architecture of this home. Post and Beam built into the shore with awesome views in every window in all directions. Picture postcards everywhere. The 3 bedrooms and bathrooms came in handy for visiting guests. The spa area was a treat for some as well. Being a boater I enjoyed the naval theme of this home, especially the "gangway" balcony overlooking the harbour and keeping the master suite and dressing room secluded. I kept in touch with ongoing projects at home using the wireless network from the window seat overlooking the sea in the master bedroom.
Everything worked well, water pressure was great and I am now a devoted Jenaire grill fan !!!! Idyllic inside and out,
I will return again. Perhaps in the summertime to enjoy the decks and flowers. It just might prompt me to spend time away from my boat this summer.
I had to write this note since we had no disappointments, only many things even greater than our expectations. A+

The view from this home is fantastic! We watched Tall Ships, whales, sailboats and seals from the deck of this beautiful house. It was perfect for entertaining, with an exceptional vista and garden, and for relaxing in the bubbling hot tub.

The area offers a variety of take-out and delivery restaurants (and this information is thoughtfully provided, along with a history of Ferguson's Cove), tourist attractions, and natural points of interest.

This is an informal and charming place to stay, perfect for a romantic weekend, or ladies' getaway! The sound of the water will lull you to sleep every night, and wake you up to a cozy Nova Scotia morning.
