Great gathering place

We were looking for a place near Missoula to accommodate our extended family (kids and grandkids), as well as a venue to host a milestone birthday for my father-in-law. We could not have been more pleased with our selection of the Fly Fisherman's Lodge!
The house is spacious, perfectly designed to provide nice spaces for kids and adults to enjoy some separation, yet it also offers great gathering spaces when everybody is together. The kitchen is well equipped with good quality cookware, the furniture is very comfortable, the fire ring in the yard overlooking the river is perfect, and the proximity to Missoula is just right. It was the perfect choice for our gathering.

Great Cabin

I was looking for a cabin that could be a home base to some fishing this spring and this place was perfect. The whole process was easy, the cabin was very functional, relaxing after a long day on the water and more amenities than I could list. With great views of the Bitterroot and attention to detail in this beautiful property, we plan on coming back.

Perfect for a large group - plenty of space.

Thanks for a great time, sorry we had to leave.

Montana Ski Trip

Our winter get away to Montana was amazing!! We had always wanted to get our families together and this Lodge was a great place to do it. The house was really nice. We have stayed at a lot of VRBO's and this one out did them all. Everything from the linens to kitchen utensils were top notch. We felt at home and we all enjoyed the layout of the property.
We used this as our base for a ski trip to Lost Trail and another day up at Snow Bowl. The house is close to a grocery and a couple of nice places to eat. The owner of the house lined us up with a place to rent snowmobiles and the kids really enjoyed that. I think we enjoyed the hot springs more!!
I would highly recommend this place.

Absolutely Amazing Property

We are a gymnastics club and will sometimes rent VRBO Properties rather than the same old hotel stays. This was the first time that the property not only met, but significantly exceeded our expectations! With 11 coaches and their family members, we had 20 plus people staying at the property and there was plenty of space for all activities (outdoors, dining, sleeping, etc), with great space segmentation for adults and kids. The details on this custom built property are amazing . . . if you stay make sure to look at the construction details, Al, you did a great job! The interior decorations and amenities left nothing to be desired.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone I know (I am now planning a personal family reunion in the Missoula area and will be calling soon)!

In Heaven!

This beautiful post and beam is fully equipped for your comfort and enjoyment. Our extended family spent a wonderful winter week here, relaxing in front of the gas fireplace, soaking in the hot tub, taking in incredible views of the river. Spotted some elk grazing on the mountain across the river. Built a crackling fire in the pit outdoors, owner provided plenty of wood for two fires. The kitchen was doubly equipped with excellent cookware and plenty of dishes. Our teens loved the basketball court in driveway and game room downstairs. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms had plenty of fluffy towels, and there was a large capacity w/d for our use in case we felt like doing some laundry. We could walk to the little community grocery store, and were a ten minute drive to Missoula. Owner was nearby and available, but we didn't need to bother him for anything. I can only imagine how nice this place is in summer. I would return in a heartbeat.

Amazing place for a group gathering

Myself and five coworkers spent the weekend at this amazing lodge and had a great time. The lodge was very welcoming, and beautifully laid out. The pictures that Al, the owner, posted do not do the architecture and woodwork justice. The spa like master bathroom was a great way to relax, and was complete with jet tub, and a steam shower. The kitchen was fully stocked, including two high end stoves, and all the bedrooms were comfortable. We had a great time relaxing in front of the Home theater, and soaking in the hot tub which enjoying the great scenery. I would recommend the Lodge to anyone, or any group that wants to spend a relaxing weekend away from home.

Secluded, Quiet, Beautiful Views and Spacious

My wife and I and my family of three sisters, two brothers and their spouses had a fantastic time here. We had a much overdue family reunion over the weekend. We enjoyed a fire in the outdoor firepit the first night - visiting and making smores. The next day we relaxed - cooking meals, laughing and sharing old videos from years ago - viewed on the big screen TV in the main living room. Our bedrooms were cozy yet spacious. The Lodge owner was hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. One unique aspect of the Fisherman's Lodge is that you feel secluded - with a great view of the river that borders the backyard - but you also have the benefit of the town being just a few blocks away. Plus, Missoula, one of the greatest cities anywhere, is only about 15 minutes away. We definitely want to stay here again!

Amazing-Breathtaking Home and Location

5 of 5

Everything was beautiful about this location. The home with the high vaulted ceiling captivated us as we entered the front door. We loved the details and craftsmanship of the beautiful pine wood stairway and moldings that displayed a rustic shaker appearance. The surround sound with the main tv worked well. The backyard stood over the beautiful Bitterroot river. On my second morning, went fishing out back and caught a 23" Cutthroat Trout. The kids went out back and went innertubing down the river. Went whitewater rafting, visited a Lewis and Clark Museum, and enjoyed downtown Missoula. This was a great place for us 8 adults and 9 children for a 50th anniversary, 2 graduations, and a birthday. Of all of our family reunions, this rates at the top. I'd recommend this site to anyone. It's clean and refreshing with a beautiful deck, hot tub, firepit, horseshoes, basketball hoop, volleyball net, large kitchen, downstairs bar, the most awesome master shower you'll see, etc...

Amazing honeymoon cabin

My husband and I recently got married in Wolf Creek, Montana and decided to stay at the Fly Fisherman's Lodge with a group of our friends and family to continue our post-wedding celebrations. From the moment we stepped into the front door of the lodge, I was blown away. The house is gorgeous with an incredible master bedroom/bathroom. There was more than enough room to accommodate our group of ten. The kitchen is highly equipped for making any type of meal you can think of and the outdoor grill was a nice plus. The backyard of the house was heaven after all the stress from wedding planning. I spent almost our entire week at the house in the hot tub or sitting in the comfortable Adirondack chairs by the outdoor fire pit.

The adjoining apartment really came in handy since a member of our group was pregnant and wanted a little more privacy.

It is kind of hard to fly fish directly behind the house since the hill leading to the river is somewhat steep, but that said, I did catch a fish there our second day staying at the house. My husband is an avid fly-fisherman and was thoroughly satisfied with the river and visited several surrounding rivers in the area as well.

Overall, I can not say enough good things about the house and I can't wait to go back there for one of our wedding anniversaries!
