Great little getaway for one or two people!
We were looking for a private little place to get away and found exactly that. This cottage offered all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. Though there are neighbors, we were not disturbed by them at all during our weekend there. The owner, Richard, was very easy to work with. He checked in with me via email to make sure we had arrived ok.
The only real drawback about the stay was that there isn't a lot of night-life locally, meaning late night restaurants. We did find some great places to eat, just had to drive a bit to get to them.
The scenery was beautiful. I can only imagine how amazing it looks in the fall with all the colors on the trees.
Owner's Response: Tara your our first review, thanks so much. Our 1 or 2 neighbors which you can't see from the cottage or deck have not been seen in over 15 years, the 15+ acre properties seem to be maintained but NEVER occupied, we miss the prior owners who always generously supplied us with home grown produce from there gardens.
As far as restaurants did you try the Queens Mountain Cafe in Roxbury, I heard they are open now to 10pm and they have a (CIA grad) 5 star chef from some fancy schmancy places in NYC. Also did you try the Black Bear Cafe in Arkville, crazy Bruce the owner and chef gets seafood directly from Maine (he drives up to Maine in his truck Tuesdays and comes back Thursdays) I love his lobster pasta with garlic. Also in Roxbury a place called the Public (I heard is popular with NYC weekenders) Also the Peekamoose in Big Indian (people drive from Woodstock to eat there) is amazing owned by another fancy schmancy chef from NYCs top restaurants. But I agree I hope for more to come. But when we are at the cottage we love to Bar B Que steaks or fresh Tuna on the deck (Bruce also sellsfish retail from his cafe) and chill (as my daughter would say) thanks again Tara and hope you come back to stay again!Richard
