Comfort and serenity

My family- myself, hubby and two adult daughters stayed here summer 2010 for a relaxing sojourn that just wasn't long enough! The weather was beautiful, and all of us enjoyed rowing and paddling on the lake, and sitting on the deck watching the pond ripples and cloud reflections. I was the only one to actually swim - mostly because the weather was so cool most days we enjoyed other activities: Exploring nearby towns, hiking in Chatfield Hollow State Park- near Killingworth on SR 80, dinner at Gabrielles in Centerbrook, and riding the steam train were all favorites. We intended to fish for the bass in the lake but didn't get to it. Did read, just hang out and cook together.
The style and size of the house was perfect for us. In theory the house can accomodate up to 8 people but because of the layout- this would only work for really good friends or family members who don't mind a walk through one bedroom and bath to get to their room. The master suite was roomy with lots of closet space. The sitting room off it gave my husband private space to read and relax, without the girl talk.
I called and talked with the owner- Kathy- several times and she was very helpful about all my questions. I would definitely recommend this property. We were looking for a place near I-95 in Connecticut, within range of NYC but not sunny beachfront since two of us are very pale and have sun concerns. This was ideal for us.
