This luxurious, modern villa is right on the beautiful Tankah Bay Beach. All 5 bedrooms have views of the ocean, and each is master suite. Three master suites are in the main house and the two suites in the guesthouse both have their own kitchens! Villa Orquidea can easily accommodate 13 people.
We now have private international chef service included in your week’s stay! You can be waited on, and relax! Chef will serve vegetarian dishes as well as most international cuisines. Whether you eat outside by the pool overlooking the ocean, or in Orquidea’s stunning open dining room, you will be waited on in style! Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served, Monday through Saturday. There is no need to go into town to buy groceries, Chef will do it all for you. All you have to do is plan what you want to eat!
We want you to have a great time however you want to spend it! Bring your camera as well as your iPod, and music play list! iPod players are in every bedroom, as well as a larger unit in the living room. Not only is Villa Orquidea in the midst of beautiful flowers and wildlife, such as tropical birds of many species, but also the bay is a wonderful place to take underwater views of the reef. If you’re feeling sporty, we have a fleet of kayaks for you to use, you can practice sunrise yoga on top of the tiled rooftop, or snorkel right from the beach!
Tulum Beach, home of many wonderful, and internationally famous restaurants, e.g., Hartwood, is located about 15 minutes away! You may bump elbows with some of the NY fashionista crowd, and Josa Tulum, a cute caftan store on the jungle side of the Boca Playa road, has designs sold all over the world! You’ll also want to check out the fun yoga and bikini boutiques!

We are from Des Moines, Iowa. We enjoy traveling, great food and going out to restaurants, art and culture, being active outside, and doing activities like kayaking, biking, walking, and other water sports.
We have traveled to Mexico for many years, and originally discovered this property when my brother and sister-in-law built a house nearby. We found the activities and lifestyle we like are very well expressed in the area.
When we get up in the morning, we are not sure what to do first with the choices we have.
Sometimes though, we just kick back with a book or catch up on newspapers through the internet.
We provide a professional chef skilled in a variety of international cuisines for all meals Monday through Saturday. This service is especially popular with larger groups and multigenerational families as no one has to worry about the shopping (you pay for groceries), preparing meals, and cleaning up! The staff will even make drinks.
We enjoy being able to walk or kayak to the restaurants on our beach, Casa Cenote and Blue Sky for a leisurely lunch. We also enjoy a swim in the fresh water cenote located across the beach road from Casa Cenote.
We are in a protected bay which means that water sports activities are more easily enjoyed right off the beach because of our protected calm water. We also get a great breeze, and the area is quieter at night because there is not the pounding surf noise. The Villa is also in close proximity to significant Mayan ruins, as well as other activities such as world class restaurants, and boutiques. Our friends who come to visit us have commented that they enjoy how beautiful our home is, and how much they enjoy it without going off the property! Because every room has a view of the ocean, it is very relaxing.
Our home was designed by two architects, one, Harvard trained and working in Des Moines, and the other, trained at a major Mexico City University, now living in Tulum. We think the main house captures a modern look with features like a second floor interior bridge between bedrooms, while still having reminders of the Mexican Hacienda tradition.
