Chiribisco is a two-acre property on the shores of Lake Coatepeque, one of El Salvador’s most beautiful attractions. It is located a mere 45-minute car ride from San Salvador and an hour and a half from El Salvador International Airport. The lake’s sparkling blue waters, which fill an ancient volcanic crater, are surrounded by sloping green hills and create the ideal setting to unwind, indulge yourself, and spend quality time with family and friends. Chiribisco is a four-bedroom house, which combines casual elegance with hospitable charm, and offers a wide selection of services and activities. Enjoy a variety of water sports, such as kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, or boating; or simply lounge in the pool or lie on the dock and soak up the sun. For those who wish to venture out, book a tour to an archaeological site, a historic coffee farm, and other interesting attractions. Chiribisco has a gracious, friendly and highly-trained staff.

my stay at Chribisco was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. the staff could not be any more nicer and personable. The house itself was very comfortable and luxurious. My family and myself had a great and relaxing vacation and it was just what we wanted. We would definitely come back here again!

We had an absolutely marvellous time at Chiribisco

We had an absolutely marvellous time at Chiribisco. Manuel, Miriam and Bertha took wonderful care of us. The meals were terrific, and we loved Salvadorean food. It was hard to leave.

We went out on the boat two days. We did lots of waterskiing. Carlos is an absolutely wonderful boatman.

Our only suggestion is to encourage people to have a catered stay and to focus on a Salvadorean menu. Bertha is a fabulous chef, and our whole family loved trying all the new dishes. We all liked the various fruit juice drinks she prepared as well.

We found it very easy to drive and get about. Absolutely, you have to have Spanish to do that as asking directions is always part of the outing. A four wheel drive is probably recommended. Though we managed with a Toyota Yaris we were a bit concerned about hitting rocks, bumps, etc.

Our outings were a huge success. We loved El Impossible and the waterfall hike out of Tacuba with Manolo Gonzalez. We loved a day in Barra de Santiago exploring the mangrove lake, swimming, etc. Climbing Volcan Santa Ana was a huge hit (people should know that at the moment it costs $8 per person: $1 to enter the Park, $1 for the guide, $1 to cross private land, $5 to enter the area managed by SelvaNegra). We also managed the drive to Suchitoto. It is no problem as a day drip - about 2 to 2.5 hours each way depending on traffic and the number of times you have to ask directions.

We also found that El Congo was quite fascinating. We wandered through the shops and the market. One could shop at the Dispensar Familial if one really wanted to cook for oneself, though the range of foods is somewhat limited. There would be no problem getting produce in the market.

We will certainly be telling everyone we know about our stay. I'm not sure how adventuresome they all are, though. They seemed to think we were doing something very exotic in going to El Salvador. We hope to be able to make another trip.
